2 questions. The Enhanced Entropy entry here says soft points do not affect the skill, is this still true? I see build guides saying to only use 1 hard point.

Also, to increase the effectiveness of Consume (more magic damage, minus enemy resist), do I put more hard points into Consume or Summon Defiler?

It was changed in 3.2 to use soft points. The page for Enhanced Entropy literally has the patch notes from Teebling that mention this. The main skill description says it's only hard points but that's because it hasn't been updated yet (not the only skill that hasn't been updated for 3.2 yet).

I'm in CET (Central European Time)
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

What ShadowHeart said.

EE has been changed to fully work with soft points. And thankfully, broken as it was on the PTR, it now actually does work for all 3 affected skills.

At the same time, EE still caps the effects for all 3 skills at lvl 20. So if you're running an actual Abyss lock and have decent gear to match, you should never put more than 1 pt into EE as your gear should easily take you from 1 to 20+, meaning your EE effects are capped solely from gear. That 1 base point you can't really avoid as you need that to open up Abyss anyways.

As for Consume, come some decent gear, you also shouldn't need more than 1 pt there.
To increase the effectiveness of the effect, you do need to level Consume and not the corresponding demon. The defiler Consume bonus caps out at -10/+20 though which you hit at errmm lvl 11 Consume I believe it was. So relatively low and easy to reach solely via gear after investing 1 base hard pt.

Essentially, both, Consume and EE are definite 1pt wonders for an Abyss lock.

Thanks, I did see the patch notes, but they did not mention anything about soft/hard points. This answers the question though! :)

Ok nice, so that actually opens up some extra skill points for Demonic Mastery and maybe some more Summon Defiler to have an extra one or two out!

Yes, they use a complicated sentence structure, maybe to sound more academic or "precise", but it means just that, soft points now work, too.

I have updated the description for EE
