barb weapon damage testing - pvm only

I have been slowly acquiring every barb runeword i can get my hands on over the last 3 weeks and ran some sims in maxroll today for a bit.

I tested Grief, dual Grief, Breath of the Dying, Death, Beast, Last Wish

a1 merc with Faith
a2 merc with

The Reaper's Toll and Pride
a3 merc with Last Wish, Grief, and Lawbringer combos.

since maxroll doesn't account for

Whirlwind attack speed properly i did the math conversions by taking anything at 6fpa in maxroll and doing a 1.5 multiplier to account for 4pa
for 5fpa i did 1.25 multiplier

I am not SUPER familiar with maxroll so i could not figure out how to account for crushing blow which would greatly push up the value of Death and Last Wish



without a merc this is what i got with my setup and just factoring in

Whirlwind with self buffs, Enigma armor, and

Battle Cry debuff on enemies
dual Grief 76k dps
Grief Last Wish 73k dps
Grief Beast 71k
Grief Breath of the Dying 70k dps
Death Beast 69k dps
Death Last Wish & Breath of the Dying Last Wish were very close around 64k
Breath of the Dying and Death 63k


For mercenaries I tested them all with dual griefs.
The best outcome i could get was act 2 with might AND with

Decrepify debuff up up to 150k dps
a5 merc with Last Wish and

Decrepify from Lawbringer was 144k dps

not factoring in decripify proccing - act 5 with 2 Last Wish was 114k, and act 2 with might and Pride was 137k with lvl 20

Concentration. Dropped to 130k with lvl 16

Concentration.

act 1 with a Faith bow was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than anything else.

TLDR - based on my testing - dual griefs with an act 2 might merc wielding Pride seems to offer the best results - thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I used this profile - PLEASE feel free to check and see if i grossly messed this up as i am not very smart and usually mess up when i do things like this

some additional notes - the a2 merc with Pride was only simming at 10k dps while the act 5 merc with max

Frenzy stacks and dual Last Wish was at 29k dps. However due to the unreliable nature of mercenaries actually landing attacks - i didn't feel this was as important.

If you want to do Fortitude instead of Enigma, i think the act 5 merc is a no brainer because he will actually keep up with you due to his

Frenzy stacks.

Reaper not only does more raw dmg against the target dummy, It does 11 times more damage against a broken immune if you also use a

Bone Break. This way you don't have to switch to

Berserk for every phys immune. Decrep also gives a lot of safety, so you can stat more STR.

BTW, target dummy seems to have 0% phys res, so the effect of reaper is only +50% dmg, but if you check decrep against mobs in

Chaos Sanctuary, the increase in DPS is much closer to +100% (since Venom lord for example has 50% phys res).

Therefore reaper is the right choice (and I'd prefer 37FCR on my mainhand to apply it's curse where i want to, but its a personal preference).

I currently don't use a

Bone Break. I tried it but still needed to

Berserk if no

Decrepify proc, so I just found it easier to berserker and free up the charm slot

Quite easy. Just klick on the button down symbol next to the dmg calc.

You may also change the "monster" in your calculation (scroll way down in the calc menu) away from "dummy target" as it's like hitting a cardboard box to something more realistic and common or a specific target like dclone or ubers in case you opt for this scenarios
