Misplaced red portal

This caught me by surprise, don't think I've seen it before.

Wonder what triggers it?

Thought it was funny anyway lol.

Never seen that before either. Wonder if something was blocking the normal portal path.

Telekinesis being used on the tome will cause the portal to appear near the sorc instead of the tome.

Interesting! In this case, I was an Assassin without

Telekinesis, so there looks to be another trigger for it as well.

Do you have data files extracted to speed up loading times? I heard it can mess with some elements sometimes.

Nah, I don't. I mean, I know about it, just never felt like it was necessary.

The Summoner's platform when I use

Telekinesis so the portal would appear on the correct platform just in odd locations. But in this case, I wasn't using

Telekinesis (Assassin), as I said.

hmmmmm today...

The portal location is based on where the game "thinks" your character is as you hit the tome, not the tome itself.

That's why for a TKing sorc it pops up next to the sorc, away from the tome reliably while for other chars it typically circles around the tome with the angle based on where you stood as you clicked it.

On occasion though, mostly if you either tele quickly enough or you just ran over (esp. with

Charge or the like) and ended up getting yourself desynced, you can pop the tome by normally clicking it (cuz the client thinks you're next to it) but the portal pops up some place where you used to be shortly beforehand (cuz the server thinks you're still back there and basically rubberbands the portal back to "you" before syncing again and figuring out where you really are).

That makes a surprising lot of sense, thanks @Schnorki for enlightening us
