Boneshade is one of the top weapon choices for a bonemancer, primarily thanks to its high skill bonuses to both, high and low level bone spells. Its most direct top-tier competitor would be a White wand which in a perfect base could offer an extra +3 to
Bone Spear and +2 to
Bone Spirit respectively, coming at the cost of -4 to
Teeth, -1 to
Bone Armor and an available socket among others.

Additionally, the 25% faster cast rate on
Boneshade is typically just enough to reach the critical breakpoints in common top-tier necromancer gear combinations.

The main drawback of
Boneshade as compared to alternatives like Heart of the Oak is the complete lack of bonus mana and resistances.
