"Cannot Connect to Server" (fixed)

Hi~ since this morning I have a strange problem - I am located in China.
I can connect to battle.net - with and without VPN, both fine.
When I start d2r and press "any

Key" it promts the connection to the server (EU, Americas, Asia) and times out - jumps to offline tab.
I tried everything I could think of including reinstalling the game, battle net, flushing, renewing, reseting my connection, tethering with my phone...
I can succesfully ping the server e.g. kr.actual.battle.net

I didn't change anything since yesterday night.

okay: this fixed it for some reason (cmd run as admin)

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock reset

(for reference if anyone else encounters a similar problem at some point)

Seems blizz has been doing some b.net updates some time between last night and now so..possibly connected.

Last time it happened (in EU) I had to uninstall and reinstall bnet client.
