Description

Illuminates nearby enemies and slows their ranged attacks.

Slow Missiles
is a pretty funny spell. It allows you to run circles around enemy missile weapons and spells. This is also very useful against
Multiple Shot
Unique Monsters that are difficult to avoid.
Slow Missiles
will also make it easier for other party members to avoid enemy missiles.

This skill slows down all incoming projectiles magical or not from enemy monsters and players. Some are slowed down (arrows, Magical bolts,
Bone Spirit
), others range shortened (
Inferno
,
Arctic Blast
).

Slow Missiles
also slows down Lightning Enchanted monsters released bolts and bolts of those Scarab Demons alike.
They still release the same number of projectiles, but they will be much easier to avoid.

Slow Missiles
does not work on: Blizzard,
Firestorm
,
Molten Boulder
, Diablo's Fire Ring.

Use
Slow Missiles
against those pesky Abyss Knights and Oblivion Knights. If you see fire coming from them, run up ahead and cast
Slow Missiles
then retreat. This is very effective and can allow you to easily dodge their deadly fire.

Lore

Through strict martial discipline and focus, an Amazon warrior can attune herself to her environment and the dangers around her, allowing her to react to these hazards with superhuman agility.

One aspect of this ability is her knack for avoiding missile fire.

Just as the Amazon must master the bow and javelin, she must also learn to defend herself from these same weapons.

When an Amazon uses this ability, incoming projectiles appear to move slower than normal, enabling her to avoid them.

This is a really under appreciated skill. It slows down Gloam lightnings and makes dealing with them much easier.

It also works on Hell Temptress and their projectiles. They become so slow you can pretty much walk around them.

This skill disables at least two serious threats and can also be a life saver in a Throne Room.

Slow Missiles
has a Radius of 18 yards.

Affected targets' missiles move at a percentage of their original speed as dictated by the following formula:
  • 100 - min(25 + [50 * [(110 * slvl) / (slvl + 6)] / 100], 75)
The damage of missiles created by affected targets is reduced to a percentage of their original damage as dictated by the following formula:
  • 100 - min([40 * [(110 * slvl) / (slvl + 6)] / 100], 40)

With its long range, lengthy duration, and devastatingly potent effect, this skill can trivialize many matchups in PvP. This use case is generally considered Bad Manners, but such manners are invited when one attempts an unprovoked PK.

In case it was not clear from the description,
Slow Missiles
works as follows: when cast, hostile units within the skill's radius (13.3 yards prior to 2.4, 18 yards after) will become illuminated (i.e., they will become light sources) and will gain a sparkling effect over their sprite. This illuminating effect and sparkle will last for the skill's duration. If an enemy affected by this sparkle creates a missile, that missile will be affected as described in the skill's description.

In so many words, this skill functions more like a Curse than an Aura or
Shout
; the Amazon will need to recast
Slow Missiles
if she wishes for new foes to be affected.
