Description

Curses an enemy to take more damage from all magical attacks. Lowers resistances of monsters. Lowers maximum resistances of hostile players.

Lower Resist is highly effective in a multiplayer setting where you are helping your allies' weapons and spells do more damage. This also helps the summonable creatures that use elemental attacks, such as the Skeletal Mages or the

Fire Golem, not to mention any Revived monster you may control.

Lower Resist lowers Poison, Fire, Lightning, and Cold Resistances. It does not lower Physical or Magical Resistance.

Monsters Resistances can be lowered into negatives. When a monster with 0 Lightning Resistance is cursed with level 20

Lower Resist (-62 to All Resistances), the monster will now have -62 Lightning Resistance. The damage taken from Lightning attacks would be increased by 62%.

Lower Resist can remove elemental and poison immunities. When breaking an immunity, it will function at 1/5 effectiveness.

Simply put, this skill increases an enemy's susceptibility to the harsh effects of the elements and elemental magics.

If you're not playing Necromancer, shop for of Lower Resistance

Wand.

Before level 36 to save yourself time. It'll then have a red background. so you don't have to check every

Wand. This is usually done at level 33 in Act 2 nightmare difficulty. Get

Bone Wand for Very Fast [-20] base speed if you play Traps Assassin.

The main effect of the skill (lowered resistances) has diminishing returns, i.e. each skill point increases this effect less than the previous one. Only the radius and duration increase at linear rate, which is not significant, as the curse can be recast when necessary.
For this reason consider treating this skill as "one point wonder" - invest only 1 skill point and let the skill bonuses from items do the rest.

Lower Resist from Plague according to the calculator to the left has a radius of 12 yards and -57 res. Note that as of ladder season 2 (patch2.5) this works at the dreaded 1/5 effectiveness when paired with a Sunder Charm .
