Description

hello good people of the internet,
I have some questions for people in the know about mechanics as I am unsure of how curses apply which effect.

times were simpler back then and the info in the tool tip is not necessarily accurate.
is
Amplify Damage
physical damage only? it says non-magic damage and I thought physical only, or is non-magic all other damage except magic?
is
Decrepify
better than
Amplify Damage
? decrep says that mobs also take more damage beside being slowed and doing less damage. I presume this is all damage?

is
Lower Resist
the best of option for a poison necro or is
Amplify Damage
or decrep even better?

tell me what you guys know about this.

Amplify Damage
reduces the physical resistances of enemies by 100% while
Decrepify
reduces the physical resistances by 50% but also slows the enemies. If you're doing elemental damage both are useless for you.
Lower Resist
reduces enemy lightning, cold, fire and poison resistance. Magic and physical resistances are not affected.

There's 2 types of "magic" damage in D2. There's magic, like Bone skills and
Blessed Hammer
, and then magic, like sorc and druid elemental magic.

This video by mrLlamaSC helps explain it a lot.

I am available for trading every other week, limited trading on my off week.
Thanks for understanding.

so, "magic" means two things and you have to check which one is meant. got it.
that is where my confusion came from.
thanks :)

While
Decrepify
doesn't boost your elemental/magical damage, it is still really good.
You and your merc take much less damage, due to the monsters being slow and well... dealing less damage.
If survivability is an issue, decrep can really help, e.g. from Reaper's Toll or your own curses.

A side note on AD/dec on a necro: if you use
Corpse Explosion
a lot, these are really useful to increase that damage, as it's 50% physical.

All prices are negotiable.
All trades are Non-Ladder.

I hear ya, thing is though, I don't use
Corpse Explosion
at all on my poison necro, since I push poison so high that everything dies anyway and with a sunder charm + lower res I even get poison immunes quite well.
also, I have the issue that a reaper's toll would overwrite my curses since you can only have one curse active at a time.
it's the same thing if you get cursed and find a shrine. get the shrine and the curse is gone, doesn't really matter which shrine it is but the curse will be taken off of you.

You are absolutely right, it heavily depends on your playstyle.
There are many ways to play a character and for some of them AD/dec can be very useful.

All prices are negotiable.
All trades are Non-Ladder.
