Hello All,
Related to trade etiquette, but obviously 2 sides to every story, and organised trade games e.g via Io are usually quite different from walk-in games. So what are your pet hates / annoyances when it comes to going into someone else's games, trade game or otherwise?
Just a couple to get you started:
1. Someone hosting a game then going afk. I mean... unless the game is set up so that you are wanting people to message you with offers.. otherwise, WTF?
2. Leaving your game running for 37 hours and clogging up server space.

I won't deny that it's annoying for me when I just want to pop in and make a trade and the person is AFK. But people play for fun, and sitting in Rogue Encampment for hours isn't exactly fun. So I can understand when they are not monitoring it every second.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 9 hours agoHello All,

Not sure if its happening on PC, but its happening on xbox. Right around RotW release they defaulted the auto-invite/accept party invite to 'off'. Many people haven't changed it back.
Its quite annoying when a WSK/CS/TZ host has that off and doesn't send invites for people to party up. You end up sitting in town while him and his two friends kill everything. People just end up leaving. Half of all Baal runs have this these days.

Totally get that. I don’t think any player coming in to trade would expect you to be staying in rogue’s camp all the time, especially if it’s one of those games where the seller has a lot of stock, as long as the seller is fairly responsive.
I treat sell games like a shop really. If the seller is selling something and they have set up shop to do so, by hosting a game, advertising what they have, asking for offers, then as a minimum, they need to be responsive. In most games like this, the seller is usually killing Baal or doing the cow level whilst keeping an eye on players ‘making noise’ to get there attention, at which point they just TP back to camp to see what has walked in, which is absolutely fine and what many would expect. Or the seller just messages to say ‘done’ so you know the trade has happened, at which point everyone leaves.
It’s the minority of games where the seller just isn’t there.. the classic afk. The game has been up for few minutes, they are visible at some location probably mid-slaying, but they don’t respond to messages, acknowledge arrivals or anything else. That is annoying… might be a good reason for it of course, but sure, annoying.

I have seen that happen on Pc games sometimes, though I’m not convinced that on PC it’s a default setting. That is frustrating though, if the host intends for people to join as one party, host should really be checking that one. Worst case is you don’t and you end up in a PK situation…Knappogue wrote: 8 hours agoNot sure if its happening on PC, but its happening on xbox. Also, a lot of times I've seen the original game creator make the advertised trade, but then the second party remain in the game AFK after its already over. But I get your frustration.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 8 hours agoI have seen that happen on Pc games sometimes, though I’m not convinced that on PC it’s a default setting. Aards.
When it come to trade etiquette here, I think people joining your games unbidden is my top no no.
Please take the time to review my trade policy in the about me section before posting in my topics thanks!
America Server trades are preferred if possible thanks!

That's especially true for TZ games. Actually finding an active game in the list among all of those 20+ hour old entries is just annoying. Though Blizz could easily solve that by finally giving us a proper lobby, including sorting/filtering by game age and all that.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 9 hours ago[..]

Beyond that, just generally people misnaming their games to bait people in..
"o xyz n Lo" -> join -> " Lo? nah! n 293842948 Jah!"
"tz my shards" -> join -> full game, nothing sharded, everyone just clearing non-TZ
"tz96 ..." -> join -> host is lvl 81

Lots of good points in the above!
One more I've just been reminded of. Host (seller) sets up a game N something really sought after, and really detailed... meticulous in what they need, and then the O is a complete genuine lowball / 1% of the item's worth. The ask is so detailed, it makes you think they cannot possibly be ignorant of the actual worth... maybe deliberate rage bait, i don't know... for example (which are deliberately exaggerated - but... not by much)...
N. 3/20/20 FAST must be COIN. O. 3 Pgems (not rubies).
Also need Enigma > 9,000 def only on a superior AP 15 ed, 15 durability. o: Fal.
N: 400ed zerker ebotd. Offer Insight. IWUB.
What odd ask/offer trades have you seen that really stand out for the wrong reasons?

There are a couple of regular xbox players on the America Server who are always trying to buy materials (runes, gems, statues, tokens) but are offering WAY below market value.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 3 hours agoWhat odd ask/offer trades have you seen that really stand out for the wrong reasons?
Like:
"2 Fal for Um"
"act3 stat for act5"
"3 token for Ber"
"5 Ist for Jah"
Its pretty ridiculous. Although at this point (2+ years) I'm impressed with his determination and hope Even though I've never seen anyone else in his games - ever. And I'm regularly in the lobby looking at trade games. I even find myself looking forward to seeing what type of crazy trade offer he has posted.
Saw "3 Mal for Ber" this morning and wanted to pop in and say something hateful, but I knew I'd only be wasting my own timeKnappogue wrote: 2 hours agoThere are a couple of regular xbox players on the America Server who are always trying to buy materials (runes, gems, statues, tokens) but are offering WAY below market value.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 3 hours agoWhat odd ask/offer trades have you seen that really stand out for the wrong reasons?

I ask for a price and they respond with "offer?". That's the one that always irks me.

It's one thing to come in and try to negotiate, but it's a whole other to come in and hijack someone's trade lobby. It's just downright rude. If you also need the thing I'm looking to trade for, make your own game with your own offer, don't come to mine and try to snipe it while I'm standing right there! Sheesh!
Personally though, I find the blatantly obvious scams to be the most offensive. It's similar to the crazy low offers except I can't just roll my eyes at these fools. Like the other day, I saw a game offering a single high rune for 75 pgems being run by a known scammer (same guy that showed up in my games and tried to scam me a few times). Worst part was, there were two people in the game, so I thought to try and hop in to warn the other party, but of course, it said "game is full."
Clearly, the scammer had thought to cover that particular base, so I was just stuck there in the lobby like "Trader! Don't hit accept! The inventory window only goes up to 40 spaces, he's only offering one item for almost double that! Traderrrrr!!!"

I've seen games like this, so how does the scam work? The scammer expects the victim to trade 40 gems up front then the scammer leaves without paying?
I understand completely, but I'll have to quibble with it. It's just negotiation. The other person may be just as irked that you asked in the first place instead of providing an offer.D2Veteran wrote: 1 hour agoI ask for a price and they respond with "offer?". That's the one that always irks me.

If they ask for an offer before i have an opportunity to ask for a price then your sentiment is understandable. Dodging the question just has both parties going in circles. A better approach to a buyer asking for a price is to set your price on the high end, then let the buyer negotiate you down. If the buyer doesn't want to negotiate then that's on them.offload wrote: 26 minutes agoI understand completely, but I'll have to quibble with it. It's just negotiation. I believe that's pretty much it, yes, or by trying to convince the victim to engage in drop trading. Usually after showing they have the rune in the trade window, but removing it, saying they'll give it on the next set. Then of course they'll bail.D2Veteran wrote: 30 minutes agoI've seen games like this, so how does the scam work? Why is that automatically better?D2Veteran wrote: 22 minutes agoIf they ask for an offer before i have an opportunity to ask for a price then your sentiment is understandable. You are free to anchor with an equally low price instead of asking.
