Bad Hosting Habits

Related to trade etiquette, but obviously 2 sides to every story, and organised trade games e.g via

Io are usually quite different from walk-in games. So what are your pet hates / annoyances when it comes to going into someone else's games, trade game or otherwise?

Just a couple to get you started:

1. Someone hosting a game then going afk. I mean... unless the game is set up so that you are wanting people to message you with offers.. otherwise, WTF?

2. Leaving your game running for 37 hours and clogging up server space.

I won't deny that it's annoying for me when I just want to pop in and make a trade and the person is AFK. But people play for fun, and sitting in

Rogue Encampment for hours isn't exactly fun. So I can understand when they are not monitoring it every second.

Not sure if its happening on PC, but its happening on xbox. Right around RotW release they defaulted the auto-invite/accept party invite to 'off'. Many people haven't changed it back.
Its quite annoying when a WSK/CS/TZ host has that off and doesn't send invites for people to party up. You end up sitting in town while him and his two friends kill everything. People just end up leaving. Half of all

Totally get that. I don’t think any player coming in to trade would expect you to be staying in rogue’s camp all the time, especially if it’s one of those games where the seller has a lot of stock, as long as the seller is fairly responsive.

I treat sell games like a shop really. If the seller is selling something and they have set up shop to do so, by hosting a game, advertising what they have, asking for offers, then as a minimum, they need to be responsive. In most games like this, the seller is usually killing

Baal or doing the cow level whilst keeping an eye on players ‘making noise’ to get there attention, at which point they just TP back to camp to see what has walked in, which is absolutely fine and what many would expect. Or the seller just messages to say ‘done’ so you know the trade has happened, at which point everyone leaves.

It’s the minority of games where the seller just isn’t there.. the classic afk. The game has been up for few minutes, they are visible at some location probably mid-slaying, but they don’t respond to messages, acknowledge arrivals or anything else. That is annoying… might be a good reason for it of course, but sure, annoying.

I have seen that happen on Pc games sometimes, though I’m not convinced that on PC it’s a default setting. That is frustrating though, if the host intends for people to join as one party, host should really be checking that one. Worst case is you don’t and you end up in a PK situation…
