Description

Hello,

Do identical skills from different items synergise with each other?

For example, I am non- paladin. I have a Harmony bow which gives a level 10
Vigor
aura and I am also wearing
Tearhaunch
Greaves
which grant +2
Vigor
(Paladín only).

Is my
Vigor
aura a level 12? Or does it remain at level 10 as I am not a Paladin, despite having a
Vigor
aura from another item?

When you go to your skill mapping section (where you can assign skills/auras to hot keys), mouse over
Vigor
while you have Harmony and
Tearhaunch
equipped. What skill level does it say?

No, Oskills from items don't stack or synergize, so you will only benefit from the Harmony's Level 10
Vigor
Aura.

If it says "Paladin only", then it is Paladin only and does not work for other chars. It literally says it there. For the Harmony
Vigor
aura there is no restriction given ("paladin only"), so it works for all chars.

Thanks for the constructive advice here! I’ll try that out and see what it says. If MlHG is right though, it should only read as 10.

Yes. And no. Also, yes. :P

You're looking at 3 different things here really:

(1) Items that grant an aura: Harmony gives you a lvl 10
Vigor
aura. The level of that aura is dictated by the item granting it. The level of this aura will not be influenced by any +skill, be it general or specific to that skill. However, if you (theoretically) had another item granting say a lvl 5
Vigor
aura equipped at the same time, those would stack and you would end up with a lvl 15
Vigor
aura. And for auras with a "ticking active effect", it'd actually not only stack to increase the level but would duplicate the tick once for every item granting the aura which is why Dream or Dragon/HoJ work as well as they do.

(2) Items that grant +skill (class only): Something like
Tearhaunch
will grant +2 to
Vigor
as an active skill for paladins only. This won't do anything for non-paladins as it is indeed class-limited. This also will have no effect whatsoever on item-based auras (see above). So it won't add to an item (Harmony) based
Vigor
aura but it would increase the class-based
Vigor
aura of a paladin.

(3) "Synergies" are a very different thing than "stacking". Really what you've asked about here is stacking of item aura with +skill from item (which doesn't happen). Synergies would be more akin to "if I have an item granting an aura but also had a skill that is a synergy to that item aura, does the synergy work?" and in that case, yes, it does work. So if a pally equips say Dragon + Dragon + HoJ to get a lvl 44 (stacking)
Holy Fire
aura that ticks 3 times every tick (see #1 above) and that same pally invests points into
Resist Fire
and
Salvation
, the item-based
Holy Fire
aura will gain the full benefit of
Resist Fire
and
Salvation
as the synergies to it, even if the pally in question has 0 points in the actual
Holy Fire
aura skill.

There is a scenario where aura's granted from items can add up. BUT the aura levels have to be the exact same and the names have to be exactly the same. (When you see +X Skill [Class only] it is not granting that skill, but adding X points to that skill for that class).
This is why dual Dream and dual Dragon work so well. Dream gives a level 15
Holy Shock
. If you equip both you will have a level 30
Holy Shock
.
Dragon works the same way with Level 14
Holy Fire
. ADDITIONALLY Hand of Justice gives level 16
Holy Fire
. If you equip all three you will have a lvl 44 holy aura. However a paladin cannot also equip
Holy Fire
natively and add it only of the equipment aura's. In that scenario the highest aura wins and the other is "cancelled".
For your
Vigor
question, the bow has the aura. So if you wear the bow you get the aura, you don't 'get' the skill.
Tearhaunch
works differently. It gives +2
Vigor
to the paladin's native
Vigor
skill. An amazon would not get
Vigor
by wearing the
Boots
.
The
Vigor
aura from the bow would not add to the paladin's native
Vigor
aura either. Even if the paladin had a native level 10
Vigor
aura to match Harmony's aura level.
The game treats auras granted from items differently than native auras (paladin and Act2 merc).

But there are some things I purposefully didn't touch on, which I think would be valuable for you to experiment on your own. Test it out and see if the aura skill levels go up or not.
Does equipping a
Shako
or SoJ, which has +X to all skills, affect these auras? Does BC from CtA also add to the auras?

Edit: @Schnorki beat me to it by 2 minutes. But damnit I'm going to post anyways since I took the time to write it out :-P

It doesn't need to be the same lvl.
HoJ for example is lvl 16
Holy Fire
, not 14, but still stacks just fine with Dragon's lvl 14.
