I wasn't very active on this forum before warlock launched so I haven't had a lot of time to extrapolate who might be a part of the dev team, past or present. I've seen a few discussions ad nauseum posted throughout the years regarding developing a use for the Standard of Heros since it is worthless in it's current state other than maybe chronicle. Is this something that could get some real traction? I think, based on all the discussions, everyone agrees this would be a very nice addition to the game
Can be used to make Runewords:

Not that I'm aware.
But on the off-chance there is one:
Go fix the Miasma Chain friendly-unit-blocking and 0-dmg-to-target bugs! And the plethora of other bugs that have largely been around since D2:R launched with no fixes in sight. Thanks.
(Will give you a cookie if you actually get stuff fixed! Delivery not included.)

Also on the off-chance, please fix the mechanics of poison damage so that poison damage is not interrupted by other sources of damage and that poison from different characters is able to be applied on top of poison from someone else so that you can be in a multiplayer setting with two+ poison builds at once (think of how ridiculous it would be to not be able to have two melee characters in the same game).
Well, IF there is one here, you must most definitely use reverse-psychology. Telling Bliizard what they have to fix hasn't worked for years. So maybe you say something like "Bugs are a feature and a source of healthy proteins." Maybe then you will evoke some childlike response of Defiance and take away your beloved bugs.Schnorki wrote: 17 hours agoNot that I'm aware.

If cookie bribes don't get them going, I've got no Faith left in any of them anyways.
I think it's a misconception that "developers" have any say in what thing to build and which bug to fix.
Shareholder tell the CEO "make money".
CEO tells directors "make money".
Directors tell product owners "make money".
Product owners shuff things tam hat they think will make money into the backlog.
Devs code what is in the backlog.
Back in the days, when games like D2R were created, it was different. The task was "make an awesome game" because this is what led to money. Now it's tweaking the wrong metrics for the sake of bein "data driven".
The current dev team should get credit for involving d2r intensive players / streamers. But unfortunately they missed that 99%+ of players are not like them. But at least they involved some players.

Be that as it may, the devs are 100% more accessible than any CEO or Director ever will be so that's the first line of defense. Once that is breached, there might be an off-chance that one of them is disgruntled or rogue enough to John Wayne some code in for us pee-onsvued wrote: 14 hours agoI think it's a misconception that "developers" have any say in what thing to build and which bug to fix.

Does this site feed into any LLM that Blizz employees might query? Joking aside I guess it depends if the devs actually play the game or not. This site is a mandatory tab on my web browser as an active D2R player...
There is no more developpers. They have all been replaced by AIs.
My timezone is CET/UTC+1.
And even when humans were developing, they were too young to know the original D2.

Wait, so that was a serious comment? The devs are all AIs now?vued wrote: 13 hours agoAnd even when humans were developing, they were too young to know the original D2.
For now. Until managers notice that tokens cost more than junior devs in India.

Interesting. That makes sense though
Cloud based AI coding services have been raising their usage prices considerably lately - primarily by switching from fixed monthly rate to pay-by-usage, which makes the cost highly dependent on token consumption. If you don’t know what you’re doing and burning tokens like no tomorrow, then AI coding is going to end up being more expensive than having a team of senior devs, with the additional downside that no human could ever maintain the generated code due to lack of structure and coherence in the code base, only AI itself could (and thus even further piling on the token consumption). It’s too early to say where we’ll end up, but the “bright” new AI coding future might end up extremely expensive unless you actually know what you’re doing.
But I guess this is a bit off-topic

So you're saying AI would make poison even more complicated than it already is? Ok, but would it work?ShadowHeart wrote: 3 hours agoCloud based AI coding services have been raising their usage prices considerably lately - primarily by switching from fixed monthly rate to pay-by-usage, which makes the cost highly dependent on token consumption. Much Doubt.
Hard disagree. The last thing any game dev/studio should ever do imo is let rando streamer bob dictate what a game should be like. At least if you ever want your game to actually be good. They are largely about as far from objective or representative of the general player base as a whole as you can get. "Good for streamer bob's clickbaiting" is very much not the same thing as "actually fun to play".vued wrote: 14 hours ago[..] The current dev team should get credit for involving d2r intensive players / streamers. Plus with RotW they've already proven that they're just abysmal play testers.
As a developer when the original D2 released and despite the sheer amount of Pi/ Codex/Claude/etc sessions in the D2R era today. I can vouch that the humans are still in the loop for now! We just spend more time reviewing and fixing the slop bots than actually writing code manually now ...
Also Uber Tristram, Keys, Torches and all that came out around 2005 or 2006 I think? Been a minute but the Standard of Heroes was just a trophy item like collecting ears so it was never meant to actually do anything!
P.S. I never worked on Diablo, actually Blizzard turned me down when I applied for a job long ago but in retrospect I was not experienced enough at that time!
