Hi guys,
I reached the stage in d2 where I'm interested in rerolling the diadems..
Before I start wasting the skulls, could someone pls confirm two things
1) I found and imbued or gambled the ones I want to reroll around lvl 88 - they can (theoretically) roll anything I want?
2) what I want is
+2 zon skills
2 sockets
20+ all res
20+dex or str
2 more useful stats like frw or MDR
It does exist right, I just need a few thousand skulls?

Correct, any Diadem can roll any mod. The reason is that they have a Qlvl = 85 and a magic level bonus (a property that only a few item types have) of 18, resulting in an affix level of 103, regardless of the Diadem's ilvl.
When rerolling an item via the cube with perfect skulls, each time you do it the new item's ilvl is recalculated based on your character's level and input item's level;
The ilvl does have one effect though for Diadems - it determines the maximum number of sockets. A rare item that rolls the Mechanic's prefix will get 1-2 sockets - but if the item's ilvl is <26 it will cap at 1 socket no matter what.
Fortunately, as long as the character doing the cubing is level 40 or higher, the ilvl will never fall below 26.

new_ilvl = [0.4*clvl] + [0.4*ilvl]. But again, the ilvl doesn't actually matter when it comes to which affixes are available. 2) That combination is possible, but the odds of getting those mods is about 1:55,000,000. The odds of getting those mods and rolling that high is about 1:1,449,000,000,000. You're looking at hundreds of millions of pskulls to have a confident expectation of getting those mods once, and tens of trillions of pskulls for those mods and to roll very high.

and jeweler's (4 sockets) can roll only on blue armor on shields, neither on yellow items, nor on helms, right?
I saw on some site that it could roll either on helms or on yellow items, but it was probably wrong

Mechanic's prefix (which adds 1-2 sockets) can spawn on both magic and rare Body Armor, Circlets, Helms, Shields and Weapons.ganseng wrote: 1 week agoand jeweler's (4 sockets) can roll only on blue armor on shields, neither on yellow items, nor on helms, right?

Artisan's prefix (which adds 3 sockets) can only spawn on magic Body Armor, Helms, Shields and Weapons.
Jeweler's prefix (which adds 4 sockets) can only spawn on magic Body Armor, Helms, Shields and Weapons.
NOTE: A prefix cannot add more sockets than the item type allows. A helmet can never have more than 3 sockets. And ilvl sets an upper limit too, as I explained in an earlier post.

Jeweler's can roll on magic helms but it will only give max sockets (3 for magic tiaras\diadems).ganseng wrote: 1 week agothank you..ShadowHeart wrote: 1 week agoCorrect, any Diadem can roll any mod. I guess you're right, that's an error on Arreat Summit then. I edited my post above.uuee wrote: 1 week agoJeweler's can roll on magic helms but it will only give max sockets (3 for magic tiaras\diadems).

took some 40 skulls.. kinda encourages, maybe it's not trillions after all..
if only skills were different class and sockets instead of defence and dex instead of str..

Did you use the cube recipe that requires 6 perfect skulls + any rare item to get your "Demon Veil Diadem" ?
I read this post which led me into the rabbit hole of gambling in Diablo 2. I'm just confused because i can't imagine you used the other cube recipe which requires a Stone of jordan.

It looks strange but why do you need that kind of diadems?
try Valkyrie's wing or Andariel's Visage or Gface if you use bow series.
+2 zon skills
2 sockets
this two alone will cost you 100-200 Jah worth Perfect Skull..
and after 2 roll work, you can get the other 4 (or even worse, only 2 affix in remaining pool . not get 6 but 4)
+ sta
+7 poison damage over x second
+ struck Nova
+ 2 light radius

and why are just the two so rare? are sockets rarer than other affixes? admittedly haven't seen that many, but +2 zon skills roll quite often
you get +1 +2 not hit , 3 kind
and is very hard to roll socket, even if roll, it is +1 +2
in case of lucky, you get 2 x 2 (1 2) combination...

A rare Diadem can have up to 3 prefixes and up to 3 suffixes.ganseng wrote: 5 hours agoaestheticsleox wrote: 8 hours agoIt looks strange but why do you need that kind of diadems?

Those are then randomly selected from the available affixes (which depend on the iLvl). But for simplicity let's assume all affixes are available.
There is one affix for +1 ama skills and another one for +2 ama skills.
There is only one (artisan's) affix to get sockets and if selected, it is randomly decided if it gets 1 or 2 sockets.
That means, getting 2 sockets is already half as likely as getting +2 ama skills.
On the other end, there are 4 affixes for getting poison resistance. So you could argue that PR is 8 times more likely than getting 2 sockets. It's not true because sockets come from a prefix and PR comes from suffixes but you get the gist.
Sockets and Amazon skills are both prefixes, so your Diadem needs to first have 2 or 3 prefixes rolled and then hit exactly those 2 prefixes and then you need to be lucky with getting 2 sockets (50% chance).
You can check all available affixes e.g. here if you want to calculate the odds for yourself:
https://diablo-archive.fandom.com/wiki/ ... Diablo_II)
As stated before, it's not likely so you'd have to spend thousands of skulls on average.
Playing HC SSF right now.
Hell completed: Sorc, Druid, Paladin, Ama, Assa
