Description
Have gotten to a point with my Blizz Sorc that I feel satisfied with their build & ability to do traditional MF runs. Am getting a bit bored with it though, and burn out is always how I would end up losing so many sets of toons to the 90 day quota!
Really would appreciate your input on what is the easiest/cheapest build to make for Ubers/Colossal Ancients after finishing your MF Sorc?
Thanks! I haven't ever really gotten past the point of my initial Sorc build in my previous stints on LOD before burn out & the quota would strike, so am pretty clueless on Ubers/Colossal Ancients. I do have faint memories of attempting to do Ubers on a Sorc long long ago that was not the smoothest of events lmao

First time playing D2R.
Played during the 90d quota days on LOD
Starting from zero!
Smiters tend to be the go-to as they can handle ubers and such fairly easily, even in more budget gear.
Nowadays (at least until next patch), the same is true for warlocks. Though they at least have a somewhat harder time over-stacking res to avoid getting overly punished by ancients.
Mosaic sins equally make for easy and fairly safe kills but those are now limited to non-ladder and you do need at least the 2 Mosaic to even get started there.
Not the only options but probably the easiest atm.
smiter is the obvious answer on a budget but i'm partial to necro personally i ran ubers this ladder with super cheap gear besides Duress and the Call To Arms, but i traded for a super low one for Ist
i can't speak on ancients tho, i haven't done them yet :p but i've heard that it's easier
i wrote the same in another thread. skillers & torch in the video etc are not necessary, the core of the build is really just some source of tp charges + Obedience, Guillaume's Face, Duress on merc
Necro is my absolute fav for ubers. Even with cheap gear i find it to be safer & more reliable than with a comparably priced smiter. & U can actually run other things (cows, Chaos, any high-density areas with Corpse Explosion) which is what i always disliked about pure smiter
U can make it go a lot faster with urdar revives as well but i never liked the gameplay of depending on other monsters and having to reset the map to scout for them, bleh. So I make do just fine with skeletons & my merc, i made a video on the build I'm using currently Obviously massively improved with self-wield Beast & Enigma & sojs etc
ROTW softcore ladder key exchange ♥ terror / hate / destruction sorry if i'm slow to respond here or on battle.net sometimes! you can always message me on discord @kerph for a quick response

So summoner necromancer can do ubers without CB Urdars and merc can survive this encounter?
Equipment:
- Helm: Ground runeword (give Lightning resistance and Lightning absorb percentage, which is fantastic against Mephisto)
- body armor: Duress runeword (has Open Wounds, which is essential to stop the health regeneration on the Ubers. The Um rune can be farmed from Hell Countess with a sorceress.)
gloves: blood recipe gloves for 5-10% crushing blow. Some people use Dracul's Grasp for the Life Tap curse, but I use a Life TapWand with level 5 charges, which last for 25 seconds, and 25 seconds is enough for defeating one of the Ubers in Tristram with having 90% Crushing Blow, as I have on my build. Belt: Death's set Belt for the Can Not be Frozen, because I didn't find a Raven Frost yet. If you have Raven Frost, you can use TGods, String of Ears, Verdungo's or whatever you wish. Boots: Goblin Toe (can be farmed from NM Andy, in the standard D2R she has aproximately 1:250 chance to drop this with 300 MF on players 3. These Boots have 25 Crushing Blow which is a quarter of the maximum of 100, which is a huge boost.)
weapon: Black runeword foe the massive 40% Crishing Blow, made in a Flail, Knout or Scourge, which has the fastest attack speed.
shield: a Paladin shield with at least 35 all res, having 4 sockets, socketing all Perfect Diamonds.
Amulet and rings: whatever you have.
Charms: whatever you have.
For skills:
- 20 in Smite
- 20 in Holy Shield
- 20 in Fanaticism
- 20 in Lightning Resistance (this gives 10% max Cap if not active and 20% if active. When I fight Uber Mephisto I have this active to have 95% Lightning Res, this along with 10-15% lightning absorb from Ground runeword Helm will make the fight with Mephisto auper easy and safe. For all the other Ubers I have Fanaticism aura active for the attack speed boost. With the Light Res aura active I have more than 450 light res, which is more than enough for Mephisto's Conviction aura, so Treachery is not needed for using Fade. You can use Treachery for prebuff Fade to make you feel better.)
I also use an act 5 Frenzy merc, because I found Sazabi set (Helm, sword, body armor) and it makes him immortal and he can survive with me in Uber Tristram. His Taunt curse doesn't work on bosses.
I think I have between 1300 and 1350 hp with this build. I have no CTA.
I use a sorceress with Lightning and Chain Lightning to farm keys. I use a Lawbringer runeword Broad Sword for Nihlathak, because the RIP stat works for the kills. I repeat: the RIP stat from Lawbringer works on the Chain Lightning sorceress fpr killing the monsters at Nihlathat, so he won't use Corpe Explozion. He still has those suicide minions who blow up on their own, so look out for them. My merc is act 5 two-handed with the Lawbringer sword, so even his kills will RIP monsters. I use one Mana Potion per run though. The Countess is immune for Cold and Fire so this sorc build is good for her. And The Summoner doesn't have immunity for Lightning so it's good.
I don't have RotW DLC so can't give advice for Colossal Ancients. I will follow this thread and see what others recommend for the Ancients.
Please ask me anything you wish, I am happy if I can help.
Edit: the Death's set Belt can be farmed from Normal Cow King. It has a good drop chance, something like 1:30 with 300 MF on P3, or even more common.

Yes! He's still squishy, but most of the time he's not taking aggro from the bosses at all and ur summons will tank everything. But u still need to pay attention with rejuvs ready, bc if he does take aggro, or tanks Mephisto's charged Bolts/diablo's lightning for too long, he will die fast. U can see in the video, with diablo i have to feed him nearly all my rejuvs until he finally locks onto him. For the minions, u can just use Terror/Dim Vision. It works out pretty well

If you get a chance, review this thread because it's filled with some good budget Uber build advice on budget.
