Can be used to make Runewords:

Most of the tips here have been mentioned. Though I have a few to add.

G-face is a great early alternative to Andy's.

Endgame build should involve a Jeweler's
Tiara
of speed (or jewelers of something else if you don't like going fast) with 3x15ias/x jewels and socketed
Windforce
with 15ias/x jewel in order to reach 120 ias.

Pride Might A2 Merc > Faith A1 Merc by a significant margin.

Fine Small charms and Sharp grand charms are a big boost to dmg.

War travs if you are still hurting for more damage. Gore Riders if you need more speed, want to base hunt, or for bosses. Or even alders if you need even more speed.

Cats eye Ammy for speed, highlords for balance. Atmas if you want to sacrafice 120ias (or even 80 ias in early game) and kill your average DPS.

Fort,
Razortail
, LOH.

If you put points in to
Valkyrie
you probably need to reconsider your skill tree choices.

Even at max build the bowazon is still weaker than many other builds but it is my favorite build and I have poured all of my worth into maximizing this build.

Mine is:

Jewelers
Tiara
of Speed 45 ias 111 E-dmg, WF +15ias/38 E-Dmg, cats eye, gore rides, razor tail, LOH,
Raven Frost
, Rare Ring w/LL, dex, +dmg, high res, Perf Old
Bone Break
, All Sharp and fine charms of inertia or maiming.

The goal now is to get a near perfect Pride (20 in
Mancatcher
), add the new
Bone Break
, and craft a perfect set of
Blood Gloves
to see how those compare to LOH.

The build makes quick work of anything in P1 but is vulnerable to Death in many areas by ranged attacks. I'm at lvl 98 so dieing is not an option until 99 when I can go wherever I want.
How does it fair vs ordinary bosses like
Baal
? I found Bowdon to be quite slow at killing bosses, especially without G-face. I find the arrow mechanic (need to refill or look for) bad, I believe what bowzons need is a quiver class of items that can roll resistance, flat damage, accuracy, ias and similar and some unqiue quivers with deadly strike, crushing blow, %dmg converted to elemental and similar. I think it would open a lot of possibilities without making bowzons op sine they are far behind javazons as well as any type of caster build.

How dare you! I would never suggest
Andariel
's! :P
Or in this case even Fortitude, glorious as it is on most other mercs. ^^
I do have everything you mentioned in your post ie Fortitude (both Char and Merc), ravenfrost,
Razortail
, Pride, and you can't deny the result. How we choose to use them is another matter. The Andariels socketed with a 15 ias/28% fire resist jewel, takes care of life leech and extra speed for when I swap to my
Windforce
. That way I'm free to use Atmas which proc's every few seconds and destroys everything. :-)
Do you have any extra run speed on your zon? If so, how much? I've found that for my zon's merc, fort is really just a waste and he works much (MUCH!) better with Hysteria as she runs way too fast for him to keep up without it. I.e. merc with Fortitude falls behind so far that the aura keeps dropping off and odds are, he'll never even see a monster, making him and his fort rather pointless. With Hysteria on the other hand, he's fast enough to stay in aura range, despite the zon's excessive (=brilliant) run speed, making him far more valuable but even then he still won't reach the front lines fast enough to ever touch a mob before it dies, meaning you're still never missing the offensive benefit of Fortitude on him.

Not great but not terrible. I use
Guided Arrow
on bosses. I do lots of Chaos runs and I can sometimes take out diablo before having to move to avoid his attacks. I can also take out dclone by equipping natures Peace. It takes quite a while but is perfectly doable.

Guided Arrow
should be better against bosses, but didn't notice much difference (in kill speed) with

Strafe
on bosses...

Yeah using
Strafe
works too and is very similar in kill speed. I like
Guided Arrow
for diablo (and especially for dclone) because if you position yourself just right you can get hits off screen without diablo attacking. The few times I have done
Baal
I used
Strafe
because there are frequently multiple targets and there's little room to hide from him.

I've tested different run/walk speeds with my mercenary, and there just aren't that many large map areas in D2r/RoTW, where outrunning my mercenary was or is an issue, but yes it does happen. Even if my mercenary dies which is rare, I'm able to clear an area quite effectively, and he's always there during boss kills. I'm never going to run fast enough and far enough for it to matter. That being said, I'm not a fast run walk sort of player. As I've demonstrated in my
Travincal
video, I like to get right in on the action and go for a quick kill, and that works for me. So my merc has an
Eth
Archon Plate
Fortitude. Here's a quick demonstration, notice my merc's auras.
