Yes (works only for Merc's own attacks)

No ideia...
But, my guess is that it works like magic find and Gold find... (if Merc do the kill the effect applies - added to your own magic find, Gold find and exp gained)

Do mercs suffer the off weapon damage bug too?
Both should work for the merc. But the exp bonus is not doing much because the merc's level cannot be higher than yours and when you level up he does so quickly himself. The exp bonus would just lead to him leveling up a little bit earlier buzt most of the time his exp Ist stuck at your level and he waits for you leveling up so that he can gain more exp. The -9% phys res however is pretty strong if your merc is actually killing stuff and not just staying alive and supporting with auras. Fade when struck is propably also nice to get that 63% fire res to 75

Remember to google EnDamage new jewel in armor, I remember ED is not working but not very sure about it.
