Description

Hello my fellow guardians of Sanctuary,

while shopping through
Anya
's inventory and searching for 3/20 gloves for my Javazon I came across some magic
Runic Talons
with several abilities that just looked eyecatching to me, because it had so many +x to different assassin abilities, increased attack speed and whatever.

I've sent a friend of mine what I found and told him the specs and asked him if he has any need for it, because I knew he used to main all different kinds of Assassin builds.

He immediatly called me and asked right away (without even greeting me, what a dork) if I bought the
Claws
or if Anyas inventory allready refreshed, well, I told him that the
Claws
are still available and that I can buy them for around 400k
Gold
, the only thing he said is "buy them, immediatly, now, do it!", well I did and gave them to him, he sold them to a PvP dude for 5
Jah
's and 5
Ber
's, he kept 1 of each and I got the rest.

Ofc I was like "wtf just happened?!", but my real question is, why in Baals sake would someone buy an Item worth 400k
Gold
for THAT! much?!

I mean, what am I missing here? What makes "PvP Items" so special and expensive?

TLDR: Because the odds of that blue item being sold at a vendor is astronomical. Since most players don't check vendors or blue items in general, their availability is limited. 400k
Gold
is literally nothing in game. PVP players are usually filthy rich (runes, currency charms, etc) and will pay eye-watering sums to get the best items possible

The real endgame for most people is PVP. Once PVM has gotten so boring the next level of difficulty is other players. Usually when this happens players have amassed a significant amount of Wealth. PVP games can be decided by slivers of health, by one extra point of strength or life or defense.
Blue items with certain combinations of affixes and auto-mods are actually some of the rarest items in the game. Things like:
Entrapping
Claws
of Quickness which rolled +3
Lightning Sentry
as an auto mod
Lancer's Javelins of Quickness which rolled with +3
Javelin
skills as an auto mod

Any LoD trade I have can be moved to RotW.
Will accept certain statues and keys instead of rune payments for my trades.

OP
It was definetly +3 to
Lightning Sentry
and +3 to two different other abilities, and, as mentioned + 20% or 30% to Attack Speed, my friend even put 2 sockets at
Larzuk
on them which made the item even way more expensive, to his words at least.

Is there anything someone should watch out for? Some specific blue items? Like at least picking them up to identify them, even if chances are close to 0 that something interesting unveils?

Because since then I pick up any kind of blue
Claws
or Talons and identify them :D

This reddit post covers a lot of them: https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo2/commen ... you_think/

To OP, to compare ingame
Gold
to actual value of an item is a mistake :) applies to all type of online games that have pvp usage and even for pvm usage.

Of course? Value is subjective but yeah ingame
Gold
value of items , one can entirely ignore that when selling items to actual person, as ppl perceive items based on how good it is and the rate that the item drops at , and how well it is utilised.

Nice find on that claw btw

Can trade on PC or SWITCH

Oh wow thanks to both of you. Man, I never knew "this side" of Diablo.

Allways thought finding an almost perfect Griffon is the best thing that could happen but man this is crazy stuff.

So it's they crazy rare combination of auto mods and affixes that can even exceed the value of some of the most powerfull and sought after uniques and runewords in the entire game.

Its jawdropping how much some items are worth and you can buy them from vendors like
Anya
, lol.

There's also a niche market for LLD (low level duel) items, clvl 1-30, some of which go for a lot to the right buyer. I don't know much about LLD so i can't really help in that regard.

OP
But how to reach out to those PvP players? I asume it takes pretty long to match the right item with the right player.

Most Diablo trading sides are made for PvM items, trading items like Griffon, Maras, Arach and so on, but who would you adress and where with a blue, magic item, no one but the right buyer(s) would know what you offer there.

If I hadn't had my hardcore Diablo fanboy friend who plays for 25 years straight, I would have just wondered about the
Claws
I talked about in my opening thread, but never shared what I found there with anybody, nor would this Item have ever found a buyer.
