You can do more Duriels than Diablos? I find it hard to believe.

Description
Can be used to make Runewords:
It's definitely possible in single-player - teleporting to/through Chaos Sanctuary, popping seals, killing spawned elites and waiting for Diablo to spawn takes a while, when (with proper tomb map) you could get to Duriel in, maybe, half a minute or less?
OP
The problem is that my "unoptimized" Cold Sorc (with full MF and no CSD gear) needs some time to clear the seals and seal bosses - at least if you do not want to risk beeing killed. With Duriel, Andariel and Mephisto I can immediately snipe the boss.
When I got time and Diablo is TZ I will try again with my full cold damage gear.
I really want to keep my Opalvein (5/8/3/2), but offers are now at 20 Jah and my flesh is getting weaker and weaker...

Sell! Prices of new items are insanely high due to novelty factor, ride the wave before market normalizes
Makes sense though as that comes down to the build really.
Duriel is an easy run to maximize but then runs into a "travel distance and random maps"-limitation which you can hit with relatively crap gear in solid builds or mid gear in even mid builds, so long as you have Teleport.
CS on the other hand has brilliantly low travel times but to maximize the speed inside takes a lot better gear/a better build than Duriel runs, simply because CS mobs are more tanky, there are more of them to kill along the way and Dia is again more tanky than Duriel.
Basically, starting from scratch, with little gear (but Teleport), Duriel runs should be way faster than CS. As gear and build progress, they start to even out and after a certain point (which is a different level of gear quality needed depending on the build) Dia starts to pull ahead significantly.

Okay, I did not count single player, since I didnt play single player in last 20 years or so. So, in singleplayer you have same maps, right? And you know where Duriel is, while in normal battle net game you dont know in which tomb he resides, so either you have to take Arcane Sanctuary first (and then again, you dont know where Summoner is) to determine the tomb, or just guess and be lucky.sewcioj wrote: 12 hours agoIt's definitely possible in single-player - teleporting to/through Chaos Sanctuary, popping seals, killing spawned elites and waiting for Diablo to spawn takes a while, when (with proper tomb map) you could get to Duriel in, maybe, half a minute or less?
Now I have 96 lvl warlock, all skillers, Apocalypse level 55... it is easy to do Chaos Sanctuary in one minute, or minute and half if I like to kill more unhappy dudes who vainly try to protect the big guy. But that Duriel... I think I am able to do like 5 or 7 during that half an hour.... thats why I could not understand it... but if its singleplayer, then yeah, it makes sense.
PS: Got ONE Korlic Pain from Duriel, one from Andariel (thank you kindly, devilish damsel!) while something like 8 statues from Diablo... now I am saving worldstone shards for act 2 and I ll just brute force it one day...
OP
I am not on SP, but as I have said: I have to be way more cautious with my Sorc in CS. Teleporting in a dense mob of Oblivion Knight and/or Megademon with Might and/or Fanaticism aura is not a desirable spot for a Glacial Spike/Blizzard SorcLizardWizard wrote: 10 hours agoNow I have 96 lvl warlock, all skillers, Apocalypse level 55... it is easy to do Chaos Sanctuary in one minute, or minute and half if I like to kill more unhappy dudes who vainly try to protect the big guy. I don't play SP either, only online, but yeah - your maps stay the same all the time, unless you change difficulty (which resets them).LizardWizard wrote: 10 hours agoOkay, I did not count single player, since I didnt play single player in last 20 years or so. One thing that helps a liitle bit when farming Duriel online, and don't want to run Arcane Sanctuary, are the chests in fake tombs - if you get into a room with blue sparkling chest, you can immediately go to next tomb, because this one is fake. They tend be to pretty close to the entrance too, so if you're lucky with choosing your path go counter-clockwise (left) from the entrance tile and run into the chest, you can leave.
Also, Ancient Kaa the Soulless spawn only in fake tombs, so if you see him - you can vacate the tomb too.
Same - I've geared my Blizz sorc a bit more towards survivability at the cost of MF specifically because of dying multiple times in CS. That's also one of the reasons why I'm saving my shards for when devs improve drop rates for new sunder charms, so it's at least worth the riskoOKIWIOo wrote: 10 hours ago

No Herald killed me so far (and I've encountered few lvl 5 ones), but since everyone is so scared of higher level ones, depending on the monster type/auras they spawn with, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Dying at that stage means losing few hours worth of experience, which REALLY hurts - especially for a semi-casual player like me.
Managed to clock in 13 Baal kills in the last WSK TZ rotation in Softcore Ladder. Even got Worusk's End x2 out of it. I feel pretty hot right now. Now that I'm able to Teleport, Baal's laughter as he tries to buy time makes me so angry now. It was frustrating before - now his laughter is 50% of my run. >:(
I did ignore everything else and Teleport to The Summoner's direction and then head to the correct tomb. I've specced my Warlock to be as tanky as reasonable, so he was able to just brush off Mauler hits.
To be fair, though, it was tense 30 minutes. Korlic's Pain was the other statue I was missing, so I was very tryhard.
I pulled off 25 Duriel kills in one Tombs TZ rotation while on Ladder just today.LizardWizard wrote: 10 hours agoBut that

what the hell... 25 Duriels... I salute you, sir.
Thanks everyone for the tips, although I know that thing about the chests or Ancient Kaa the Soulless. Still, I cant make your Duriel numbers, cant even get close to it, but Chaos Sanctuary is piece of cake with my new warlock. That fire spell who pushes everyone away is a life saver.
I did die once, though. Unwittingly ported to some public game "City of Damned" portal and there was some beefed Herald with his cohort.
I died instantly even before loading ended. That was just sad
But lesson learned

Okay, Durance TZ came up. I lost count after 30 Meph kills. Must've been like... upper 40s. The reason I'm reporting this, though, is that I picked up exactly zero statues off this prolific run.
Grievous sorrows. Either the heaven weeps for me or cackles upon me.

Used my necro for this one. New and improved, thanks to RotW additions (huzzah for those!) but still obviously nowhere near a proper sorc.
Started a bit late because I was still closing out another game which cost me at least 2 runs, if not 3-4.
Had to take 8 "stash breaks" due to drops not being entirely shitty, along with a quick bio break in between.
Got 8 excessively annoying wrap-around maps, 2 of which ended up with a center exit (ugh...). Only 1 actual speed map. The rest "average at best".
Ended up with 37 kills after all that. Not too bad for the circumstance I suppose but still definitely on the low end for a rotation.
Got 4 statues, finally ending my dry spell from yesterday, one of which ended up being an A2 so...no complaints there.

So you took all my statues. >:( It's only fair that you give up half of those.
While ~50 Meph kills in half an hour already feels OP, I feel like there's still room for improvement for my Warlock. Not the character himself - I as a player am simply not on friendly terms with Durance yet. I've always avoided the place like a Plague for the last 25 years. But now that I have a character who's both mobile enough (Enigma!) and tough enough (all the vit points from Enigma's strength!)... It's... not that bad? So I'll have to learn. Maybe I'll bully Meph even harder after that.

I actually quite dislike taking my lock into durance, compared to others.hyeonsestoast wrote: 7 hours agoSo you took all my statues. >:( It's only fair that you give up half of those.

There's always a risk down there that your merc blows up a doll in a drive-by which eventually wears you down. But with a lock, throwing in an overtuned hephasto on top of the merc, dolls are just blowing up left and right..first time in decades I actually came close to dying on my way to meph because the two of them decided to somehow take out half a pack while I tele'd through it.
For nearly everything else though, yeah, he's hard to beat. Or nigh impossible for anything but a sorc.

Btw, a further tradeoff for my Sorc is that I do use Chains of Honor instead of Enigma and therefore my movement speed in town is at best mediocre (especially noticeable for act 2+3). Maybe I try switching to 4 after I killed Mephisto and start out there but then the loading time is increased...

My Warlock has 20 hard points in Levitation Mastery. Psychic Ward receives 300 damage absorption as a synergy from this. Topping this with soft points, the skill gives me around 400 health points on call.Schnorki wrote: 7 hours agoThere's always a risk down there that your merc blows up a doll in a drive-by which eventually wears you down. But yeah. Dolls are the true final boss of this game. I remember reading that their on-Death damage isn't working as intended.
Run speed is no excuse, that's what Telekinesis is for.oOKIWIOo wrote: 7 hours agoBtw, a further tradeoff for my Sorc is that I do use Chains of Honor instead of Enigma and therefore my movement speed in town is at best mediocre (especially noticeable for act 2+3). But yeah, you definitely want to shift to act 4. Unless your rig is just too dated/load times too long. As you Teleport to meph, be sure you tele right across the platform so once he's dead, the way to the portal is already raised and you don't have to wait for that. Way faster than running the A3 path.

Using a Frozen Orb sorc with 560% mf, not at all optimized for clear speed, my averages per kill are more or less:
Andariel: 75s ± 15s (about 24 kills)
Duriel: 150s ± 90s (includes killing The Summoner to check which is the right tomb) (about 12 kills)
Mephisto: 90s ± 20s (about 20 kills)
Diablo: 210s ± 60s (about 8 to 9 kills)
Baal: 300s ± 90s (about 6 kills)
Andariel: 75s ± 15s (about 24 kills)

Mephisto: 90s ± 20s (about 20 kills)
Diablo: 210s ± 60s (about 8 to 9 kills)
Baal: 300s ± 90s (about 6 kills)
That's like 1 Duriel kill every 1m6s or something? I don't even see how that's possible without single player maps lol. I'd love to see your gameplay if possible. 2) Find summoner (this is where you actually lose time in these runs as the correct arm of the 4 is indeed random).
3) Look at the glowing symbols behind him.
4) Of the 7 tomb symbols, 6 will be there. The missing one tells you which tomb you need.
5) While you do the above, hit the book to open his portal.
6) Take his portal to canyon.
7) Teleport to the correct tomb, now that you know the symbol. Any chain-farmer and speed-runner should have the directions memorized as the tomb locations are static.
8) Once inside the tomb, find the chamber entrance and head in (again a possible slight time loss here but typically not too bad).
9) Kill Duriel.
10) Collect statue and whatnot as applicable.
11) Exit game
Generally, you rinse and repeat that loop and you can drop your Duriel runs down to pretty solid times. Especially if you get lucky on the arcane guesswork a few times as that should take you to well below a minute for a run. Sadly, I for one tend to get summoner on the 4th arm reliably so...boo...
Since you exited at Duriel, you will zone into act 2 in your next game.
In theory, you would want to avoid that because act 2 zone-in to WP is an unnecessarily long way. In reality though, TPing out from Duriel to hit the waypoint to go to A4 or the like takes just as long, if not slightly longer. TPing out to talk to Meshif and sail out of act 2 is faster but then involves a loading screen and strands you in act 3 which is no better. So as far as the game exit is concerned, you're kind of stuck with act 2.
However, if your load times are fast enough, you can speed up the process in your next game. After you zone into act 2, don't run to the waypoint. Instead, talk to Warriv right next to you and have him take you back to act 1. That'll give you a much shorter distance to the waypoint which you can then take from act 1 directly to arcane sanctum to start your next run and shave off a few seconds. That's especially true if you need to unload to stash as your stash is also closer in act 1 than the detour in act 2.
