Description
Hi community
I just bought the RotW expansion, and wondered what was better, keeping my historical chars in classical LoD mode or convert them.
What is the adoption rate of RoTW ? have most people migrated there ?
Where are most people playing atm ?
Thank you for your feedbacks.

Personally, I've paused D2R for a few months, and decided to come back just because of the new expansion
And already converted all my chars
(no turning back anymore....)
My feeling, returning to this community
, is that most of the active players migrated too
(There were always complains about the game not receiveing any new content, so I think most people embraced it, now that it happened
)

Do you plan to play your old chars at all? If yes, do you agree to the quality of life changes (stackable stash tabs, loot filter)? Do you want more endgame content for your old chars? Do you want some new powerful gear for your old chars to chase or to blow your Jahs on?
You have already bought the game, so you seem to somewhat approve.
To make it simple: Convert your old chars if you still want to play them or if you want to use their items in RotW. Let them rot (or ripe like wine) in vanilla D2R if you don't intend to use them or their gear, anymore.
By the way: In this forum, most of the actibe players seems to have migrated, but on the servers there are still lots of players who haven't. The active players are divided like 50 - 50? Does anyone have numbers?

Short story: converting is 5 seconds. You can do that whenever you feel like, so absolutely no rush.kokain wrote: 3 hours agoHi community

Yes, there are some benefits of leaving some of your stock in old game and then if you need you make "carrier char" and delete it afterwards. Simple as that.
Meanwhile you can just try out warlock, becasue it's fun to play. Yes, it's broken, but have some of it yourself:))
In response.. Lightning Bolt you to the face!

I was mostly scared about the commu to remain on old LoD, mostly regarding the number of trades and open games.
It seems that you have convinced me to look forward and never turn back

Right now, when lots of (casual) players haven't converted, it makes sense to keep one or two vanilla chars so that you can buy stuff from vanilla players (like old Sunder Charms that you might need). Later you might want to convert these chars and their items to RotW.
If you want to sell stuff, it probably depends on the quality of your items. High-end items can probably best be sold on RotW, since most rich (and active) players will mostly convert. Beginner's equipment, you can probably sell in both game modes.
In my opinion there are currently two caveats or at least reasons (for the casual gamer like myself) to keep at least one high lvl Char in LoD: It is at least for now very hard to find a "new" latent Sunder Charm in RotW and the old Sunders are not dropping there. The second reason is, that it is confirmed that TZ Andariel has way better drops in LoD (in other words: she was nerfed in RotW). In the long run I think I will convert everything, too, but since I suspect that there might still come some major changes for the better or worse I keep a foot in both worlds
After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

Does that make up for her not dropping the RotW stuff though? Even if she still kept the improved drop rates on LOD, I'd never actively farm there and forego statues and the new items and such.

Edit: To get the statues you do have to actively farm her, don't you?

The vanilla (non-RotW) Andy cannot drop new RotW items, of course.Schnorki wrote: 1 hour agoDoes that make up for her not dropping the RotW stuff though? Even if she still kept the improved drop rates on LOD, I'd never actively farm there and forego statues and the new items and such.
