Description

Hi, I have a
Eth
war pick and I was wondering if I socket it with the quest, will it put 6os or 4/5??

I don't want to waste a socket quest if it puts only 4 in it! I really need 6os.

Does anyone has the answer? I read that it depends on the Ilvl of the item...but I am not sure?

Yes, it depends on the ilvl.

Which area did it drop in? Was it on Nightmare? Hell?

And... which item is it? You wrote War Pick but there's nothing with that name. Did you mean
War Pike
?
Military Pick
?
War Spike
?

If you remember where you found it, you can calculate the number of sockets here:

It dropped from doing
Baal
minions! I was impressed it droped there. So will it has 6os?

My bad on the name. I meant
War Pike
.

I guess on hell difficulty? If so, yes, it will get 6 sockets.

If you look at the
War Pike
database page (click its name in your own post), you will see the sockets per ilvl ranges.
Max sockets iLvl 1-25: 3 *
Max sockets iLvl 26-40: 4 *
Max sockets iLvl 41+: 6
And there's a comment saying:
* This item's qLvl of 85 is higher than these iLvl ranges. Therefore it'll never spawn within the marked iLvl ranges, unless cubed to iLvl 1.
This is important. It means that a
War Pike
will always be in the highest iLvl range (41+) when it drops, because monsters that are level 40 or lower cannot drop it . The only way to have a
War Pike
at a lower iLvl is if you have a Low Quality
War Pike
and you use the cube recipe to turn it into Normal Quality, then the iLvl will be reset to 1, and the max sockets would be 3. But it's entirely impossible to have a base (white/grey)
War Pike
with an iLvl in the middle range (26-40) because it cannot drop at those iLvls, and there's no way to manipulate the iLvl of a base item besides the Low Quality > Normal Quality recipe (which sets iLvl to 1). The fact that the max socket at that iLvl range is listed on the database page is mostly a curiosity.*

* a Magic
War Pike
can technically be given an iLvl of 25 or 30 with the cube recipes
Recipe: Socketed Magic Weapon ilvl 25
and
Recipe: Socketed Magic Weapon ilvl 30
respectively, but this is irrelevant for max sockets because these cube recipes automatically give the item 1-2 sockets, never more.

tl;dr

Your
War Pike
will get 6 sockets from
Larzuk
.
