Description

Currently twinking an offline SP druid. Never played druid much, but I am aware that they are favored with 2 handed weapons and less favorable with shields due to their slow block rate compared to other classes.

He is currently level 17 in Act 1 as I've been playing only on P8 settings and I'm mostly invested into
Werewolf
,
Feral Rage
, and
Lycanthropy
.

So my question is, should I go full Sigon's including the shield and 1 handed weapon such as
Blood Crescent
Scimitar
(which I have on hand, if you have other suggestions hit me with em) - or should I stick with my Steel RW
Large Axe
?

Can be used to make Runewords:

I've done both of these. In LOD days I ran full Sigon's in a Fury druid up until the middle to end of Nightmare and I switched to Immortal King belts,
Boots
, and gloves and a middle of the road runeword. I don't remember which one it was. I ran all the way through Nightmare without dying and I wasn't even trying to a no-Death run. I think that's more due to the tankiness of Were-Druid than anything else, but it does mean I didn't have any issues using full Sigon with a one-hander.

I'm currently leveling a Fury Druid with Death Hand gloves and
Belt
, Angel's ammy and ring X2, and Sigon's
Helm
, armor, and
Boots
, with Strength in a two-
Hand Axe
. This run is only partially through Normal. It's a combo that I ran on a two-hand barb that worked until I could equip IK and it cruised through Normal and Nightmare no issues.

I think that either works fine, but the added utility of combining the sets is better than full Sigon. Death hand gives cannot be frozen and additional life steal without sacrificing IAS. I think I will prefer the combined setup until something else proves better for early to mid game.

Old man still killing demons and yelling at clouds.
Looking for an
Um
. Msg me if you have one for sale.

Oh yeah also forgot to mention this is on HC as per my usual lately, so a no-Death run would be best lol.

A person smarter than me once said "never go full Sigon's".

I'm willing to accept Tokens, Keys,
Perfect Gems
, and certain minor runes (this changes regularly so please ask but usually
Eth
,
Nef
,
Sol
,
Ral
,
Hel
,
Lem
,
Pul
,
Um
) in lieu of my asking price when my "looking for" price is a rune.

May try out a 1 hander then until he starts to outgrow the Sigon's.

I do have
Death's Hand
+ Deaths guard but unfortunately they're upgraded which means level 29 required lol.

Also have a
Bonesnap
and
Steeldriver
sitting in mule storage, may just stick with Sigon's and a 1H until he can use one of those.

Also have a 5os
Eth
Decapitator
and
Windhammer
laying around somewhere, kind of excited to see how those will do.

If Knappogue said he was smarter, then who are we to argue with him? See Knap, I do stick up for you! :D

When I do a new zon build I usually go for Singon's Gage, wrap (16 boxes), and sabots for the 30% IAS, 10% Life Stolen Per Hit. It's not an end game solution but it will get you to nightmare.

I don't play hardcore, so I can't give advice as to that mode of play.

However,
Werewolf
druid using Fury and
Feral Rage
is my favorite way to play...although it lacks the mobility of
Teleport
. My experience is that the
Werewolf
does a lot better with certain two-handed weapons such as polearms, mauls, and axes. I also think that finding the right balance between damage and attack speed is critical. Huge damage at low attack speed is not advantageous, but neither is sacrificing damage to get the fastest attack speed.

I tried making Death
Decapitator
runeword on offline mode with a copy of my character and didn't like it. Too slow compared to a BotD, and it lacks the +30 to all attributes and massive dual leech.

Just go with whatever two handed weapon that gives you good damage, fast attack speed, and other defensive capabilities like leech, bonus to life, triggering curses or other helpful spells, etc... Cool thing about a
Werewolf
vs a barbarian is you don't have to specialize in a certain weapon type. So, you can just go with whatever two-handed weapon you have that's best.

Using a shield for
Werewolf
has never been great when I've tried it. But since you're playing hardcore, you might want that for survivability. However, it significantly diminishes your killing power, and if monsters build up too quick you die faster :)

Oh, cmon. Derek Zoolander was not a fan of Sigon's? LOL..

I went full Sigon's with my Windy Druid... as a lowbie set it's pretty good.
