Description
First: No, I do not use Fists of Fire and I invested only 1 point (it is on lvl 24)
But I have ecountered that I often do not leech mana when I use my finisher (Dragon Talon). I have Cobra Stike built up with 3 charges.
Any idea what the reason is?

Leech effectiveness maybe? Not sure Cobra Strike takes that into account honestly
Assuming Cobra Strike is up with at least two charges, the only other thing I can think of is lack of physical damage. What bases do you use? Does adding Tiger Strike into mix fix the leech?
If you offer what I ask for, you can add me on bnet for faster trade.
When I leech, I get my mana orb up very quickly, but I it can be that I use my finisher multiple times and get no mana...

But other than that, could also be leech effectiveness like sor mentioned. Every mob in the game has a leech effectiveness, and some have 0%, such as skeletons.

My profile says Ladder, but I play bothLadder and Non-Ladder.

Hm... I now switched from Infinity to Insight (lvl17) and now my orb stays up no matter what Killing speed is not affected in the slightest at players 1 ofc (PS is at lvl 50). I think I use this setup for SP farming until I manage to find my final "playstyle".

There is such a thing as leech overflow, but I dunno if it applies to this case.
Thx buddy, I have looked it up but I do not think this is the case here. Another thought occured to me: I have heard that Dragon Talon also sometimes does a "knockback". Might it be the case that when knockback occurs only the charges are released but there is no leech?

I run in the same "problem" as you, with the similar setup (only one point in Fists of Fire).
I think is the overflow problem and I think it's related with monster's health and type (weaker vs heavier).
I kill many Fallen foes with no effect and when I encounter a Zombie, orbs instantly goes up.
The same in Travincal. On route to the council I kill many Zaelots with no leech and when I hit the Council members, it goes up instant.

Thanks for your reply It seems I have judged too hasty... I have to check it again, but now that you mentioned it, it indeed seems that trash mobs are the problem.

Firstly, I still can't trace the problem back to a single cause... I thought about putting some points in Fists of Fire (to get lvl 30-32 with items) to reduce the leech and therefore maybe do not encounter the inconsistent leech problem. The rest of my points I would then put in Tiger Strike. For now I use Insight on my Merc which seems to me the best solution. Even in 8 player games nearly everything on the screen dies with 1-2 kicks and you can easily Teleport around to check the floor when you are done with the mobs
Any other suggestions?
Secondly, a somewhat luxury questions: When you can choose between Claws with +2 to Phoenix Strike as well as +2 to Claws of Thunder and one with +3 to Phoenix Strike which one should be better? Having +4 to 2 Skills seems better than having +3 to 1 Skill but I do not know how to compare the damage output. Is there a calculater somewhere for these comparisons?

At skill level 43, each additional level of Claws of Thunder adds about 4% to max damage.
At skill level 43, each additional level of Phoenix Strike also adds about 4% to max damage. The actual value changes in both cases have decimal places so I rounded it.

Yes, that was my thought, too. It seems it is not easy to calculate the real damage in comparison. But practically the difference should be negligable. I currently use the 2/2 Claws because I use Claws of Thunder to kill Bosses

With Mosaic, the base is completely negligable. The skills on the bases are once again just about min-maxing and vanity. Great mosaics might be 5-10% stronger than bad ones, but you will never notice at players 1 - 8.
Maybe at players 128 you would see a difference. (The incoming patch is going to give us players 128, I'm positive. I heard a rumour. One def tweeted and...ok, nevermind).
