Description

Prior to D2R I only played SSF. Now with D2R I've been playing multiplayer so I now have access to rushing.
I made a second Bnet account for doing some self rushing and I haven't figured out what is going on with level requirements and quest completions.
Any time that I got rushed I was always at least level 20 and didn't start getting rushed until Act 3. I play normal up to that point then had another player rush me to clear Act 3 and all the way to
Baal
if the rusher is up for it.

Some quests won't complete unless the character being rushed commits the action "
Rescue on Mount Arreat
" or "
The Blackened Temple
". In the former, my rusher released the soldiers but my rushee got a message "completed by another player first". In the latter, my rusher killed the council and my rushee smashed the orb, rusher kills
Mephisto
and my rushee gets credit for all of the quests except the one to "kill the council"

For "
Rite of Passage
" (kill the ancients) I know that you need to be level 20 in normal, 40 in nightmare, and I think 60 in hell to get credit and access to worldstone keep. However I have a character that was rushed by someone else that got credit for killing
Baal
, "
Eve of Destruction
" is marked complete, and has access to nightmare difficulty, despite being only level 15 at the time. In the quest log the ancient's quest isn't even lit up for me to click on it, but kill
Baal
is blacked out as complete.

I tried to rush a new character and clear ancients and
Baal
using my rusher (with the rushee on the map right nearby) and I keep getting "you cannot complete this quest in this game....."

Can anyone clue me in on the specific requirements for clearing ancient's and
Baal
and getting access to worldstone keep?

When your lvl 15 character was rushed there must have been another character getting rushed who did meet the level requirements. That lvl 20+ character was either a person who finally met the requirements to do the Ancients or they were using that character a 'bumper'. Any character can get quests completed, regardless of levels, if there is another character who does meet the level requirements and completes the quest in the game and you are in the same party.

This is what's known as a G-Rush. Where a rusher uses these 'bumper' characters to speed rush someone. They trigger quest completions for everyone in the party. Usually these bumper character will leave the game or party before the quest is completed. That way they do not complete for the quest for themselves and can be used as a bumper again.

This is how you can find level 1 characters that can make hell games.

I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys,
Perfect Gems
, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.

You can do something similar with Act 3.
You can create a game with a character that has killed the council so the door to the Durance of Hate is open. You can take your character that hasn't kill the council and walk into the durance through
Travincal
(since you can't take a TP directly into Durance) and walk all the way to the Durance WP. Once you get the WP you can close the game and open a new one, take the WP and kill
Mephisto
effectively not needing to collect any of the organs.
Sometimes walking Durance is a bit tedious so you can prekill all the monsters in Durance 1 and 2 with a powerful character.

This is kind of what I was thinking. So a level 20 creates the game, a high level rusher joins, then a bunch of whatever level characters join. The level 20 leaves, the high level rusher kills Meph/Ancients/
Baal
/etc., then the low level characters get credit. Then the level 20 can create another game that lets the others complete the quest since the level 20 wasn't in game when it wsa completed in the last game. Does this sound like an accurate synopsis?

At least one character who has not completed the final quest in each act must be present in the room when act boss dies. If so, all party members in town also gets quest completion. There is one exception - in act 2, nobody needs to be present when
Duriel
dies. If noone is, the quest state will say that the quest was completed by another player, but you can get around it by talking to
Tyrael
inside the tomb, this overrides the quest state and you can move on to act 3. But for all other act bosses, at least one player who has not yet completed that act must be present when the act boss dies. So in case of
Baal
, someone who has completed Ancients (and thus meets the level requirements for Ancients) to be able to enter Worldstone Keep &
Throne of Destruction
, i.e. the bumper, must remain in the game and be in
Worldstone Chamber
when
Baal
dies. If only the rusher is in there nobody in town gets quest completion.

This is how it works with Council too. Someone who has not completed
The Blackened Temple
quest must be present when the council is killed. Killing the council is not a requirement to access Durance of Hate or going on to act 4, however - you just need the
Flail
and to smash the orb.

There are some noteable exceptions -
  • Rescue on Mount Arreat
: A player who has not already completed this quest must break the last prison door. I'm not sure if it's required to break all prison doors, any one of them, or just the last, but to be safe, I usually let the rushee break all the prison doors. It's enough that the rushee breaks the last prison door. (thanks RackAnewShoe)
  • Den of Evil
: A player who has not already completed this quest must kill at least one monster in the den.

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.

This one I can clarify by some recent testing. The rushee gets credit for the quest when they break the last door even if the rusher breaks the first two.

Thanks - I suspected as much but I never tested it thoroughly.
