Description

Hey all!

All right: i'm going to respec my pally to a melee/ Zeal/ Fanaticism build. I'm on a tight budget, so i'm going to use the complete Griswold Legacy set.

What do you suggest for the sockets? BTW, 4os Caduceous.

My guess...

for Zeal probably Lo and/or Ohm (have to calculate based on other equipment what combination will increase more your overall damage) and maybe maybe Shael (or % ed 15 ias jewel) if you can reach another breakpoint with...
for Smite, Ber and maybe maybe Shael if you can reach another breakpoint with it...

Tight budget does not sound like there are several spare Ohm, Lo, and Ber runes.
But good jewels with IAS and Ed or Max damage are also expensive. I think you can get some with non-perfect stats for a small price (~ Pul) since they are not very desired.

Just make sure that you don't trigger the ed jewel bug by putting the jewels in the wrong place. 😀

In armor etc you can also add jewels with IAS and res. I gave Emilio a gris armor and Helm with topazes. For some extra MF. Could be worth considering as well.

For shield: Diamonds until res is full. Ridiculously cheap and only 3 less res than Um.

Playing HC SSF right now.

OP
I'm probably saving two weapon spaces for a couple of bers for when i'm rich. But i'm definetely going with two shaels.

The shield sound promissing with diamonds, good call.

The armor and helmet are being worn by me, what's your suggestions beside IAS jewels? Topazes?

It is a future thing, for sure. I didn't remember open wounds, its a good call for ubers and bosses.

You will wear dracs there anyway, so Um is pretty much useless in the caddy. Also, with maxed fana you already hit max fpa Zeal/ Smite with a caddy (needs 39ias with lvl25 fana), so Shael is a waste there too. BIS would be 4xBer for a fun UT char. Otherwise, if you are tight on budget, just drop the whole set idea and make an Oath\Death\Grief instead:P

PTopaz in the Helm and Pdiamond shield for sure is what I'd do on a budget

yep, without some bers Griswold's is not good at all, but if got several to spend and a lot of small charms with lighting and fire dmg ....you can build pretty nice zealot.

Ah yes, i didn't think of that for the OW. Was kinda just thinking on the spot. Blood crafted Belt with 10% OW is also a budget solution. And I had no idea what the breakpoints are for scepters, for me its always been Black Flail or Death/Grief PB.

Really depends on what you want and need. Gris is not a competitive set in any case. But you will be able to go through hell. Do you want to find some nice stuff on the journey? Take topazes for cheap 120 mf. You can use Rubies for more life or better: Amethists so that you need less str for the shield and can put more point in Vita. You can consider a Hel (or better a jewel with lower req) in the shield as well to get the 148 str req down, if you have enough res.

Shaels in armor/ Helm for fhr or in the shield for fast block are worth considering as well.

You can go nuts and put 8 Amn in Helm, armor, and shield, and hire an A1 merc with Edge. I'd name that char hedgehog. (Would be cool to personalize those items: "Hedgehog's Griswold's Honor").

With that many sockets you can do all kind of stuff, this is what makes the set fun. But keep in mind: even with the best jewels, it's still bad.

If you are a zealer I'm guessing you'll be using Fanaticism? If so you don't really need IAS jewels. Maybe go for Ed/max dmg or Ed and str jewels? If this is low budget any jewels (rare included) that increase your damage.
Or if you don't have any of that maybe fill up your armor with Sol runes. Give yourself a ton of flat damage reduction. Which you need as a zealer since you sit there getting mobbed.
Sol runes also add a lot to minimum dmg if put in a weapon. 4 Sol runes would add +36 to minimum damage, which is quite a lot for that weapon - it's a bit anemic.

If you are offering my asking for price, please feel free to add me on bnet or xbox, you do not need to wait for my confirmation.

The obvious go to are Ber runes for crushing blow, and Um for open wounds but since you're not considering that and with Fanaticism you don't need to Shael your weapon, then from there you might be looking at damage enhancing jewels. The other options include Ith (+9 max damage) and Sol (+9 minimum damage) runes, because they're cheap and easily removed if you find something better like oh say Ber/ Um runes for the crushing blow and open wounds. :D

Ah, so i don't need Shael?

Well, to late, i'll have to spend a Hel then :P

I'm saving two spaces for two Bers (its free to Dream about it, right?).

Guess i'm going with Ith then, for now, until i get those Bers.

In the shield i'm sporting 3 perfect diamonds, and nothing in the armor/helmet yet. Considering rubies, to beef up my life.

Depends on what breakpoints you're reaching. Without knowing your pre-fanat IAS its hard to know for certain if you need any Shael or not.

I'm team Sol for these. I prefer +min dmg over +max dmg, but it really depends on play style and preference. Plus to minimum damage increases the consistency of your dps. A tighter min/max dmg spread increases your predictability.

Usually I would agree but the difference between maximum and minimum damage on Griswold's Redemption is probably 20 or less, so two Sol runes alone would bridge the gap, but 3 Sol and an Ith would make it nearly flat damage.

With full set and even the worst Redemption (200ed) my maths says it's 32.

If you are going for damage, I'd suggest using jewels. I regularly use things like 18 max damage jewels as crafting material. If you want those, I'm pretty sure people here will contribute those for free to your cause. 😀
