Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I’m looking for advice on my Trapsin. I currently don’t have the highly sought after cunning talons of quickness or whatever, so I’m using either Crescent Moon or HOTO. As far as shields go…. Is it worth putting facets into a Head Hunters Glory with 3 sockets?
I have an ethereal one but I’m sure I can easily trade or buy a non Eth if it’s worth it…
Open to advice! The cost of making a HH Glory with 3 Lite facets in it, might just as expensive as buying trapsin talons???

Can be used to make Runewords:

Do you already have Griffon's Eye?
If not, it is probably the 1st thing you need to invest.
A bad one is probably cheaper then 3 good Rainbow Facet: Lightning Death / Rainbow Facet: Lightning Level-up, and you can use a Spirit Monarch as shield or a simple cunning claw (3 traps)
And if you go for a jeweled shield to maximize damage, probably a Monarch with 4 Rainbow facet would be better

Crescent Moon Runeword
Heat of the Oak
Head Hunter's Glory

Infinity Brandistock is the only way to go. I mean, I'm kidding, there are options obviously, but based on my experience that is what you're gaming for. I have not attempted the dual talon option mostly because I won't be finding those, it may well be better.
Decent Trapsin Talons are stupidly expensive and generally speaking unattainable for most. Example: Chances of attaining the ones listed on Maxroll 1/89,232,131.
In my opinion just run Infinity Brandistock with mercenary Insight / Cure. Same as Nova Sorc great quality of life without the absurd cost.
Edit: As Departure said ;0.

I think with the right torch and anni the sorc can carry the Brandistock too with no points allocated. Meaning you can use the same Infinity stick for both.M1ck wrote: 3 months agoDecent Trapsin Talons are stupidly expensive and generally speaking unattainable for most. Awesome, thank you all. I have a griffons eye and an Infinity in a partizen, Cryptic Axe, and mat Spear(for zon build). Why the Brandistock? Low req?
So self wield Infinity essentially?

OP
It has a -20 weapon speed, so it's easier to hit trap laying breakpoints
I like a Crescent Moon Long Sword and Spirit shield for trap sin. Cast speed for tele if on Enigma and the negative res from Crescent Moon is massive for the damage
usually online 1am US Pacific time, 9am Europe time
I’m with jasealpha.
Yes, self-wield Infinity will have the better damage output (and I never even consider those GG 2os magic Claws because they are so insanely rare/expensive, it’s a nice theorycraft, that’s all
), but I prefer Crescent Moon Runeword + Spirit with Infinity on the merc. Personal preference.
I find that mana management isn’t nearly as bad on a trapsin as on a sorc so Insight is not really necessary in my opinion, the FCR on Spirit makes it much easier to hit that 102% FCR breakpoint for Teleport speed*, and unless you’re consistently playing on high player counts, self wield Infinity is overkill.
You might want to play a bit with several different setups and see how it feels.
* With self wield Infinity you’re locked into having a 2 FCR rings and a GG Caster Amulet with minimum 17% FCR - or be happy with the 65% breakpoint, but I definitely prefer the 102% breakpoint on a trapsin personally.

Wait guys, i am still confused. Does -% enemy resistance now work on your traps?
Personally used Spirit + Crescent Moon Runeword and oh boy did it destroy everything. This was two season ago. I love playing trappers and this is a perfect combo if you dont have / cant have the what ever Infinity or what it was called. Super op expensive weapon for any lightning type build to have.
Yep
This was changed on one of the last patches.

Yes. Both +% elemental skill damage and -% enemy resistance works with traps in D2R.ipatrishkov wrote: 3 months agoWait guys, i am still confused. Does -% enemy resistance now work on your traps?

Thanks all! Gunna go for the Brandistock set up, since I’m currently using Crescent Moon Runeword in a PB and Spirit shield. Works great, but I’m just testing around. Hard part is gunna be getting my hands on a 2/17 Caster Amulet. I have a 1/19 and a 20 FCR with no + to skills but a lot of other helpful mods. I have several caster amulets for an assassin but none with 2/17+.
How much do those go for, out of curiosity?

Also, what is everyone’s thoughts on using dual Plague? For Lower Resist proc?
A bit late to the topic here...
You can also try out fire trapsin. There's much less viable shields/main hands, so it will save you some trouble and it's really not that expensive(if you buy pre-made runewords)
My fire trapsin is running:
Heart of the Oak(6 facetted Crystal Sword/ Phase Blade also works but will be more expensive)
Phoenix Monarch(for -28 fire res)
Flickering Flame(for extra fire res, and -10 to -15 enemy fire res)
If you buy the Phoenix premade, you could possibly get it for only around Jah, the Flickering Flame costs Vex for you to make, and same for the Heart of the Oak.

Do u have 6 facets in the sword???!!
I dont use a 6 facetted sword BUT i know it is an option if you aren't missing res/fcr.Scellis24 wrote: 3 months agoOh snap! Bout to try that today. Got all the needed gear too. I think… lolwvgcswiglett wrote: 3 months agoA bit late to the topic here...

I use Heart of the Oak in the mainhand for added resistances, skills and faster cast rate.. Up to you though, but for me, HOTO saves a lot of space in my inventory, if i were to use a Crystal Sword/ Phase Blade i would need some 5 all res charms and drop my The Stone of Jordan and Mara's Kaleidoscope for FCR rings and amulets.
My guess is that would not be very good

The Plague's trigger is on struck, and the trapssin (and most of the long ranged builds) do not take many hits...
The Act 5 Merc with 1-2 Plague may work
, but Act 2 Merc with Infinity will be better (at leat for elemental damage purpose
)
