Description
So I was sitting here mid gaming wondering when I can get some Thresher, mancatchers etc for the merc. And. I still have some levels to go. Then I look at the damage they give and it's ok, got aura etc.
But then I started thiking of the Hone Sundan. It's "decent" speed, has 45% crushing blow, and if upgraded to Ghost Spear it should have around 70-500 damage(non Eth version).
So that made me wonder, if its 3 sockets got filled with Lo runes so it got 60% deadly strike, that thing should in theory do decent damage when upgraded?
Not sure if it can follow Infinity, but I wanted to see if anyone had tried it or even done the math?

Can be used to make Runewords:

Haven't done the math but I think you get more mileage by increasing the attack speed with Shael. The weapon is quite slow otherwise.
You can test 100% cb with Hone Sundan + Guillaume's Face + Rattlecage
(or 95% with Duress)
(which is was cheaper than 3 Lo
)
But probably just 40-50% is more than enough
And as Infinity and Obedience have both 40% cb and you can use Duress instead of Fortitude for a little more cb

Using 3x Lo on it seems a waste as cb has a bad diminishing return since its halves mobs hp based on their current hp. After 2-3 cb activated on the mobs, its no longer useful… use the 3 Lo’s on something else
Can trade on PC or SWITCH

For merc in mid game it's far more imperial to have LL so you don't need to const. be healing them (especially Act 1 and 2) -- thus I would suggest putting at least double Amn in it. 3x Lo is just way too expensive for what you get in return
Someone much smarter than me already said once: "The real value of something doesn't reflect in a number of how much a seller can ask for it, but on how much a buyer is willing to pay."
OP
Hm I see that. But you guys seems to mainly focus on the CB of the situation. With the Lo runes most of the times or 60%(could do 40% and a Shael) it wil do 140-1000 damage before abilities etc. It seems to me this is quite decent damage even compared to rune words. Or am I wrong?
I understand it doesn't have any aura etc, but the damage seems quite high?
And this is the stock version. The Eth one should do around 200-1450.

101-736 with ethereal upgraded.

Hone Sundan has up to 200% ed (plus 20-40)
Obedience is cheap and have 370% ed

I meant when CS hits 60% of the times, but yes
CS depends the remaining life of your target. So damage varies.

Yep, and because of that, on low players count, only really useful against bosses
Exactly. Explains why weapons with CS are better against Ubers than high damage weapon without CS.

If you mean CS = Critical Strike, then no, it does not depend on the life of the monster. The same goes for DS = deadly strike.
edit: Both simply double your physical dmg. They are technially not the same, but in practice they are unless you have both. Then they are rolled independently, but they cannot add up to 4x.
Ony CB = crushing blow is concerened about the life of the monster.

Sorry, was talking about CB.

I was considering CB this whole time.... Ber gives CB (Crushing Blow), Lo gives DS (Deadly Strike)
the CS ( Critical Strike) acronym confuses me...
CB depends on monsters life and so only really useful on bosses/ubers
CS/DS always work so is always usefull
So, a Hone Sundan (200 ed%) with 3 Lo (60% DS/CS) will be equivalent to 380% ed!!!
(in practice a little more as the 20-40 damage is increased too
so surpass Obedience

OP
Really?
I know CB does, but isent CS only double damage?
When triggered, Cristical Strike (amazon skill ans barbarian masteries) and Deadly Strike (from items) just double the physical damage of the hit.
(Monster life does not matter)
The game test both separately bout only one can trigger per hit (so no x 4 damage...)
But because of that you cannot simple add the chance of Critical Strike and Deadly strike, the calculation is more complex

But sites like
https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner
can calculate it correctly
Only Crushing blow depends on the monster current life (and it is calculated after the hit damage already reduced the monster life a little)
