question about uber baal and his self heal

I just did ubers for the first time on my barbarian. I have been doing them on my Mosaic sin but wanted to try barb.

I won, never died - but

Baal took me literally so long my Grief

Berserker Axe went from full dura down to 2.

I was using Grief and Death
my merc was using Last Wish
and I had a poison charm on it.
Both Grief and Last Wish have prevent monster heal and poison, from what i understand, is supposed to prevent monster heal - yet he was healing CONSTANTLY. Any reason why this would be or what i could do in the future?

Prevent monster heal doesn't work on ubers. You need a source of open wounds to stop the regeneration, such as

Gore Rider or

Dracul's Grasp. And the ubers have level higher than your char, so even with excelent attack rating, won't hit ubers easily. That's why smiter is best char for doing ubers,

Smite never misses.

PS: Ignore target's defense doesn't work on ubers also.

oh, well okay then LOL. I have Grief, Last Wish, Death, Beast, and Breath of the Dying. I figured Grief for PMH and Death for crushing blow was the best combo.

and i would put up my Mosaic sin against a

Smite pally any day, it does them crazy fast and easy - i just wanted to try on my barb

Poison damage works to prevent heal too (if you can keep him poisoned constantly).
But it is a little hard to do this with Grief as it triggers

Venom: Skill (which cuts the length of all your poison damage to 0.4s....)

oh interesting. Maybe next time ill do like ebodtd and Death?

i did not have any issues with

Mephisto or diablo, just baals regen and mana drain was annoying (ww barb)

got a nice little torch out of it, but i have yet to sell a single torch for more than an

Ist so idk. maybe ubers aren't for me lol

botd is less strong than Grief.
Grief has -25% def and 20% deadly strike which are both strong against ubers.

What's your AR ? I'm pretty sure your issue comes from this.

Frenzy hybrid, but my only issue was

Baal self healing, i didn't know prevent monster heal didn't work. i think the minions spawning were eating a lot of my attacks and they are physical immune so it was wonky.

I ended up putting a Lawbringer on my merc for the

Decrepify proc and it was fine, i was just really confused about him healing when i had poison and prevent monster heal on

Don't try to kill them, simply use

Howl to keep them away from you.

yep, again it wasn't really a big issue with them, i just didn't realize that prevent monster heal didn't work on the ubers and i was just spamming ww on him with the assumption it would and it was quite weird.

with

Howl and more focused attacks i should be able to keep open wounds up next time via goreriders.

Mephisto and diablo were very easy

per your advice in the other thread i may just self wield the lash wish + a Death, and give my a5 merc a Grief and a Lawbringer next attempt

Life Tap from Last Wish won't proc with WW.
Not sure this is usefull.
Grief will help you reaching a better IAS breakpoint.
