User marked as buyer could not comment on trade

Bug Report

Description

Hi

I marked this trade as sold, before the other user commented on it (we were already friends on Battle.net)
trade/um-t1583726.html
In the past, when this happened, the buyer could comment on the trade (and so I could give him trust after)
But in this case, the user reported to me that he was unable to comment on the trade 🤔

The nominated buyer should be able to comment on the trade after it has been marked sold - Fredkid is right.

The reason for it failing in this particular scenario is some config I forgot to change when we had a spam attack like 3 weeks ago. That config has been fixed now so shouldn't encounter the issue again.

As far as I know you need the comment to occur BEFORE you mark as sold (unless you cannot pick him in list)

Anyway, fixed it, you should be able to give trust now

No, the user marked as buyer/seller should be able to comment on the trade after it was marked as sold (I already passed by this situation before and it worked as expected - and I even have a "prepared text" to send to other user to explain about this after the trade 😛)
The tooltip explicit says that:
You cannot give the buyer trust as they have not yet commented in this trade

Despite the trade being marked as sold, your nominated buyer is still able to post a comment here Once they have commented, you will be able to give them trust.
I still cannot give him trust...

As the user was new to the site (Joined: 1 week ago), maybe he just didn't find the comment button 🤔 or was not logged at the moment (sometimes the site log-off me and I take some time to perceive...) 🤔
Or... it is a new bug ... 😓

This may be related to a situation that another user reported to me via DM a little over a week ago; there was a trade where a WTB "seller" wasn't able to mark his own trade as completed (the site told him "You cannot edit posts in this forum."). I reported this to Teebling directly, but I don't think he has dug into it yet. I think this situation might be related - that there's something with new users that prevent them from taking certain actions.

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.

OK
I asked him.

(I received again the mail "Trade sold - "
Um
", I imagine that is was a side-effect of what you had done 🤔)

Thanks for confirming, just closed back the topic :)

I think it's usually better to wait for the other trader to have commented before marking as sold. Don't say it cannot work the other way round, but as we can see... ;)
