If you're online you have 5 minutes to get back into the game instance before it vanishes. It's not a lot, but it should be enough if it was just a short connection/power loss. Provided you remember the game name and password (...so make the game with some name/password you can easily remember).

FYI: You can copy&paste game name / pw (are identical) of random games, too. With this method you can even join games which are not "joinable" when trying to connect via lobby or chat (saved my ass several times when I was stuck with a Clone).

Open, but not cleared UT portals are like items lying on the ground. While you should open all 3 in the same game to obtain 3 different organs, you don't have to open all at once. You can instead open one portal, clear it, and only then open the next one. In case of an irrecoverable crash you'd lose only 3 keys, not 9.

If I don't get an uber Key after 10-12 runs on the same Key source, I just change a character. Usually it helps quite quickly. By no means this is a guaranteed solution.
