When acessing this site through my smartphone, I came across a notification saying to install the diablo2.io app. Is this safe? is it really an app, or just a site Conversion as I've seen it before in other sites? Does it compensate to have it?
Any of you guys can share some light on this subject, please?

I was also suspicious at first. Which is why I backed out and checked the app store. When seeing nothing there, I installed it within a sandbox. The notification UX is a little suspicious, but then again that's how all notifications from Chrome or the Settings app display.
It is definitely a Google Chrome feature. I'm also using a Google Pixel and I think us Pixel users are a test bed for new Google/Chome features.

Hi, admin here: Which device, operating system, and browser are you using? Can you provide a screenshot of this notification?
To be clear, there is no 'app' for iOS or Android, there's just this website here, that is viewed through your browser. Like others have mentioned, it can 'appear' as an app on your home screen if bookmarked (I do this on iOS for example to have a handy shortcut to the website), but there is no official 'app' in the conventional sense of the word.
this site does not have a complete manifest,
Sure, but it has enough of a manifest file to serve up a nice, correct-resolution icon for the home screen bookmark, depending on your mobile device etc.
I had this same popup appear on my phone. Andriod 14 (Build UP1A.231105001.B2). Previously I was using a Chrome homescreen shortcut/bookmark. Then one day I got the "Install diablo2.io app?" as a Chrome notification. Chrome App Version 131.0.6778.39.
I backed out to check the Play Store, no app. A few more page reloads and I got the notification again. Installed it.
It appears to be streamlined version of my homescreen bookmark by Chrome. When I open it I don't see tabs or anything else Chrome browser related. But when I go to my notifications bar I see "Viewing profile - Knappogue" as a Chrome notification.
This is better than a webpage bookmark as each homescreen launch does not open a new chrome tab.

Thanks Knappagogue - so... this is a native Android feature that Android are pushing on their users.
I was worried tbh when I saw this post - worried that someone had managed to do a man-in-the-middle attack and was getting people to download a bogus d2io app or something like that to steal account credentials. Glad that's not the case!
I think they could do a better job of the UX though - I would be highly suspicious of a popup like this on first impression.

Hey! There was another site I used like crazy on my smartphone (Samsung with Android 14), and I hade the same notification and I installed it) I also use googlechrome on my Android, and I figured, since there was no difference that it was just a shortcut (probably a nre chrome feature), so I assuming it was something similar here. I ignored the request to install diablo2.io, but if it shows again, I'll take a screenshot and publish here.
