This is one of two contenders for best in slot for a might merc with Pride as a main weapon, especially when paired with a Vampire Gaze or Crown of Ages - ideally Eth and upgraded with a high def roll and socketed with Um, or +15all res & good secondary mod jewel. The only other consideration is an Eth up’d Guardian Angel.
This is better than an efort because Pride doesn’t really do enough damage to leach effectively, so you’d be looking for max damage reduction
While using Shaftstop, it is worth bearing in mind that the effective Physical Resistance (expressed on items as "Damage Reduced by X%) of player characters is capped at 50%. Any Physical Resistance in excess of 50% will only serve to mitigate the effects of Amplify Damage, Decrepify, and/or Bone Break.
