without going into an emotional rant from someone who already had a Ber and then got a Ber drop, why do they not trade 1:1 all things considered?
Jah and Ber are both needed for Enigma which is clearly a center stage item in the game. Infinity is a staple for several builds and needs two Ber. Ber is individually valuable for its DR in open sockets.
what items require an excess of Jah that tips the supply and demand? is it really Last Wish doing that? i just don't see that being the case since it's kind of a pigeonholed item for non-hammer paladins (which is like... 10% of them) and barbarians.

Can be used to make Runewords:

If I remember correctly Ber was mostly higher in value than Jah for the last few months.
Was surprised to see that values shifted.
Not sure why though...

While Jah is slightly more frequent to drop than Ber you can cube to Ber with 2 Sur (which are more frequent to drop than either Ber/ Jah) runes. You won't willingly cube to Jah. Thanks to Sur runes there will always be more total Ber on the market.
When the server gets older, most people already got their infinities and after that what's left to do with Ber? Some will be used in Chains of Honor, some in Beast.
With Jah you'll be rerolling Faith, make perfect Dreams, create amazing Phoenix shields, and last but not least, build Last Wish. Ignoring Enigma since it needs both.
There might be a small shift in 2.4 when people go after Ber again in order to create Infinity in Spear bases.

If you get a PM offer, post it in the trade. Promote healthy competition instead of settling for less.

alright, i think this explains it mostly. i forget that Sur has a niche use, amateur mistake.
i remember Gul being particularly maligned outside of being cube fodder for Vex. i guess i'm partially in denial that Ber doesn't have the utility to overcome the relative difference in availability, but evidently it's much more available than i thought. i was thinking that you don't put a Jah in a socketed item of any type for any reason really, while Ber can be slotted in a Crown of Ages or Harlequin Crest or Stormshield or any weapon for crushing blow, among other relatively common uses.
i live under a rock and play builds that don't rely on Jah for anything: cold sorc, Zeal pally, cs zon, Frenzy barb, summon necro, Fury druid, and mule assassin. get me a single Enigma and share it between them all.
OP
makes sense to me now after a little input... you'd start using Jah for post-endgame items after you use Ber to get to endgame. that and you'd never cube Ber to Jah, while Sur's primary purpose is to be cubed to Ber.
i'm still team Ber all the way. if i get a Jah drop i promise i'll trade it for a Ber just to rub my own fur the wrong way.
Queegon is dead on.
You could see this in prior seasons as well:
Typically, Jah = Ber on day 1 as everyone and their mom scramble to get their first Enigma at any cost.
Shortly thereafter, all of the Java and light Sorc farmers expand into Infinity asap, driving up the value of Ber, making it more valued than Jah.
Once you get into late season however, Jah tends to overtake Ber again. This is in part because Ber is significantly easier to come by (due to the cubing of 2x Sur) but also because once you get to the "less farming-critical" runewords (i.e. get past Enigma and Infinity), Jah becomes more often used. At that stage, Ber really only finds the occasional use in a CoH or Beast while Jah is more commonly desired, mainly due to Phoenix, Dream, that second Dream you automatically want if you have the first and Faith. Last Wish naturally requires a Ber as well..but not without adding 3 Jah on top of it.
Adding to the pure numbers there, you also end up with a significant difference in terms of rerolling. CoH is static, meaning 1 Ber will suffice. Always. No need to reroll that. Beast is primarily used by summoners who don't really care about the variable stats on it and hence also reroll very rarely. Things like Faith on the other hand are variable in stats that actually matter and are rerolled quite a bit because of it.

Hmm, why is that? I thought the rune hierarchy was a straight line in terms of likeliness to drop?
Saving up for Last Wish here! Thankfully I get Jah drops quite frequently (up to 5 or 6 in last few months). No Ber yet though.. May have to trade for one.
havent played in a week really, just random trading and decided to run pindle. 20 runs in he drops a Jah. ( or maybe his little minions not sure) but it was quite the shock.
Online mostly between the hours of 7pm to 12am EST ( US)
I swear everyone making Phoenix
Well, indeed after buildinf Enigma, Infinity, Beast and all the orher sweet Stuff i wanted, Phoenix Ist the last item I am saving for.
I always considered it a nice to have luxury item.
Trades possible on PC, Switch and Playstation
Nice flex
Sry, that was not the purpose of the post.
Just wanted to underpin that Phoenix might be somewhere in a spot of a late "ladder" build nice to have but not the first pick kind of luxury item.

OP
tangential, my cat's name is Goomba.
Goomber is one of the stupid nicknames we call her. This is funny to see.
