Hi guys

So i have a griffons and a
Shako
for my javazon.
used both of them against mobs in hell, light imune
the question is, does it make a difference using griffons? cause i can't see the diference. I give good dmg with
Shako
but with griffon's i expected a lot more against imunes.
can somenone explain how the griffon's work and what is the best gear to use on a javazon?
my gear is
Shako
/griffons
The Cat's Eye

Stormshield

Chains of Honor
titan's
Razortail

Sandstorm Trek

bul-katos ring/
Manald Heal

Venom Grip

Griffon's on its own won't break a lightning immunity. So you're seeing right, there is no difference.

You need to break the immunity first with a source like
Conviction
or
Lower Resist
, -% to Enemy Lightning Resistance on gear can't do it.
But once the immunity is broken,
Griffon's Eye
can lower it further (at 1/5 efficiency).
Also lightning immune means the monster has above 100% resist, it can be a lot more than 100%. For example Oblivion Knights have 180% cold resist, their immunity cannot be broken even with
Conviction
+
Lower Resist
.

The posters are correct, though I would like to add that with D2r Sorc's
Cold Mastery
is officially another way to break cold resistance (bug? Feature? You decide).

So the methods are:
-
Conviction

-
Lower Resist

-
Amplify Damage
(for those rare physical immunes)
-
Cold Mastery

With the above example of Oblivion Knights, enough
Cold Mastery
can indeed break their immunity.

OP
So maybe I should sell it or keep it until I have a good weapon on merc?

It's still better than
Harlequin Crest
unless you want the Magic Find.

I didn't know about that, although apparently it has been fixed on bnet and only works in single player.

dont know about the Griffon's, but I'd recommend you to get some gears with + to skill to do more damage, try to get a Spirit shield, an amulet with + to amazon skill and some res, you could also get + to skill and ias gloves. also because you are mostly doing lighting damage i dont think life/mana leech or crushing blow matters that much for you

This was patched shortly after launch and no longer works.

I heard it was fixed in both, can you confirm its still working in SP? but either way, it wouldnt do enough immune breaking to matters anyways. Even a lvl 40
Cold Mastery
would have blizzard or
Frozen Orb
still barley doing almost no dmg to most cold immunes unless also used in conjunction with a LR
Wand
or
Conviction
.
