Any object imbued with magic, has an aura that is easy to detect. However, to identify the exact nature of this enchantment requires extensive knowledge of arcane symbols and materials. Since no one has the ability to memorize a spell of this magnitude, the Vizjerei have developed a method to discover those hidden attributes. By using special inks and dyes containing tiny grains of a rare crystal that is extremely sensitive to magical auras, scrolls have been created that allow even the untrained to examine an enchanted item.
