Kingslayer phase blade Smiter?

hi, pretty much every guide says Grief is bis. But Lo rune, i'm not there yet. I've been cubing normal phase blades and gotten a bunch of 4os phase blades. Is Kingslayer Phase Blade good for Dclone/Ubers? seems to have all the right stats Crushing Blow, Open Wounds, Prevent Monster Heal, 30% IAS.

Currently using a Black Scourge. no problems killing DClone, but does take about a minute of smiting with 1 point Smite Foh/Hammer hybrid build.

That kinda expensive as a "budget" weapon, when Black fill the role for next to nothing.
I'm using Black and a Life Tap Wand and I can kill DC before it wear out, so less than 25 secondes.
Wont be fun to do Ubers without at least Dracul's Grasp though...

2 others things:
- Smite doesn't care about the base weapon damage, you could use a Flail and have the same DPS than a Scourge
-PMH doesn't work on Ubers

I'd just make a Duress and buy some Dracul's Grasps if I were you. No need to waste runes on a subpar weapon like that, Black is good enough.

Prevent Monster Heal is useless against bosses. Open Wounds will stop healing. I never tried Kingslayer PB, but it looks it can be good to achieve maximum ias breakpoint with just Fanaticism lvl 2 without any other ias gear. I use Heaven's Light with 2 Shaels in 2 sockets, it does the same thing - i reach maximum ias with Fanaticism lvl 13. I have open wounds on draculs gloves and it is enough. Other gear i have: Hoz with Um, Mara, Smoke armor, Goblin Toe, Guillaume's Face. I have 93% CB. Dclone dies in less than 10 seconds. But i use smitter/FoH hybrid with max FoH+ Holy Bolt+ Holy Shield+ Fanaticism and rest points in Smite. Try to reach as close to 100 % CB as possible, it does the job in combination with very fast attack and open wounds. As mentioned damage of the weapon is irrelevant, Grief is good because it adds damage directly to Smite (shield) damage, but in budget variant CB is the king, you dont have to worry about any other source of damage, even exceptional version of shields works and weapon can be even normal quality.

Kingslayer is fantastic. Period. Solid crushing, covers your OW needs and thanks to being possible in a phase, it actually allows you to hit max Smite speed with nothing but a lvl 2 Fanaticism and 0 IAS outside of Kingslayer itself.

With a Black Scourge for example, even with higher Fanaticism you do still need at least 20 IAS somewhere else on your gear.
Naturally, 20 isn't all that much. But if you're talking budget smiter/ubers, you're still happy about any chance to focus more on res than IAS.

It is a tad more expensive, yes, but in my opinion more than worth it until you switch to a full Grief setup (that being Grief + fort to amplify the Grief effect).

I would do it "budget" like that:
Black in a Flail
Goblin Toe
Guillaume's Face with a 15% Ias Jewel
Treachery for the precast
Smoke for rest defense
Spirit in a Palashield with high @res
Life Tap Wand
Thundergod's Vigor
As much Res on Amu/Rings as you can get. Or if you want to spent ~ Ist then Highlord's Wrath is pretty insane boost to Ias.

A level 15~ Fanatasim Aura should do the trick.

The answer is yes, it most definitely is. Especially if you don't have any other source of Open Wounds like Dracs or Gore Riders (Open Wounds is mandatory to stop Ubers regen, PMH does not work on Ubers). Even then it's still very useful to keep high proc for open wounds + Crushing Blow.

Grief, while a great overall weapon (especially for its rune cost), lacks any CB+OW which are pretty much essential for melee chars vs Ubers.

I've soloed Uber Tristram many times with my Frenzy Barb and used both Grief+Kingslayer and Kingslayer+Last Wish and I prefer Kingslayer+Last Wish over any other weapon combo (again for Ubers only, if you wanna talk about farming density or Terror zones that's a different story).

This is especially true vs Uber Meph which almost mandates the use of Chains of Honor + Tgods to maintain resists & lightning absorb, thereby precluding the use of Duress and/or Blood crafted Belt as a source of OW+CB.
