Exile base

Hi, I have done some research and I'm still not sure if this is my best option for an Exile, or if I should look for a

Vortex Shield. I am in the process of making a Smiter for Ubers, so that will be its purpose. Smiters, bless me with knowledge! Thanks.

Gonna be hard to find better base than this one.
I think this has less max dmg and more block compared to vortex though?
Not sure how much that matters because at the end of the day, people just do ubers with 4 p

Diamond shields and it works.

Your main damage comes from CB and Grief. I would totally use this base. You won't be able to notice the difference in damage/kill speed compared to a perfect BIS item.

+1 btw. I am going to make an Exile in this base for my Zealer (although I am still not sure I actually will use it... )

Exile even works in an exceptional base.

This one rocks, I wouldn't hesitate using it.

Wow! It's a GG base for Exile! put 4 sockets in

Larzuk and be happy! Although

Vortex Shield grants more defense, requires more STR and has a blocking chance lower than

Sacred Targe. You will have to put mor points in STR and DEX to wield it and grant 75% block chance. So your smiter will have less vitality.

Smite of all Paladin shields are the same, 46.

Smite damage in an exceptional base is lower than in an elite base.

Excelent GG base for Exile also! You can use it for a zealer and for smiter too.

True, but the

Smite damage in an exceptional base is lower than in an elite base.

When I was testing builds, you just needed to equip Grief, after that everything melts, regardless of

Smite dmg or skill lvl.

This would be perfect. I prefer the sacred targes over others b/c of str reqs. Your shield is a winner. Hope you can get a good roll on the Runeword.

I am most likely going to use Grief, but I was also wondering if I should try Last Wish. I've never made one. I assume Grief is just better, unfortunately, but LW has some neat stuff on it.

There is this ongoing debate whether Grief or Last Wish is better (for running Ubers).
~ 2/3 say it's Grief, ~1/3 says it's Last Wish.

I don't care. I know they are close and Last Wish costs around 9 times as much as Grief. Grief also has a better resale value, just in case.

Actually, a speed runner killed this debate when he broke the Ubers speed running record with a 6 socket base (PB?) with 4

Ber (and 2

Shael iirc).

I also prefer unique builds over Min-Max-BiS ones. Boooooring! So please do as you like.

Back to topic: With 60-70 CB from Last Wish you will not care about the 0.5 avrg. damage from your shield unless you measure your speed in seconds over thousands of runs.

Yeah, we always hope for the perfect roll (which never comes).
In the end, it's just a bit of def and your roll is only slightly below avrg.

Exile varies only in

Defiance aura level and enhanced defense. But independent on the roll, Exile combined with Grief,

Uber Tristram will be cakewalk for your smiter. Just observe the RES demand for battle

Uber Mephisto with safety.

Final Tips for Your Smiter
"Pair Exile with Grief (

Phase Blade) for IAS and raw damage."
"Stack Crushing Blow (Guillaume’s, Gore Riders, etc.)—it’s your Uber-killing engine."
"Get 20%+

Life Tap from Dracul’s Grasp or keep Exile’s proc rolling."
"Max resists (75%+ in Hell) and aim for 10k+ defense with

Holy Shield."
What’s your current gear setup? That might tip the scales one way or another.
