defense goes wild

Hey guys,
maybe you can help me here.
I do ubers. And my defense seems to increase without a reason.

As you see my defense starts with 21K with main weapon.
Then I walk while changing weapon. Other weaponslot has 20K.
Then

Mephisto comes, I cast lifetap with

Wand, then change weapon to main, defense is 18K for a few seconds.
Then it changes to 24K in the middle of everything.
When

Mephisto is dead it changes to 27K and remains that high.

This scenario is exactly the same with every ubers I do.
Is this explainable somehow?

That is weird your def went up after the kill? No idea... curious to try it on my end as well and see what others have to say.

Weird indeed. Defense goes up after beating Meph makes sense, as its

Conviction Aura lowers your def, but having it higher than the initial value is really weird.

What's your gear?

First and most obvious guess:
You're using Fortitude.

1) you start unbuffed -> base def
2) you

Charge meph, get hit with his

Conviction -> def drops
3) Fortitude's

Chilling Armor procs -> def goes up
4) meph dies, you lose his

Conviction -> def goes up again
