Cold skill damage and - cold enemy resistance applied to on striking.

Hi all.

If i have a Barbarian with 2 Voice of Reason runewords equiped with a Nightwing's Veil with a socketed Rainbow Facet: Cold Level-up

1 - Do the -% enemy cold resistance (2 x 24 from Voice of Reason AND 5% from Rainbow Facet: Cold Level-up) apply on the two On Striking spells? ( Frozen Orb and Ice Blast)

2 - Do the -% enemy cold resistance from both weapons cumulates regardless which weapon gets to cast the spell?

3 - Do the -% enemy cold resistance apply to the cold damages granted by Voice of Reason and Rainbow Facet: Cold Level-up?

4 - Do the + cold skill damage (15% from Nightwing's Veil and 5% from Rainbow Facet: Cold Level-up) apply on the two On Striking spells? ( Frozen Orb and Ice Blast)

5 - Do the + cold skill damage apply to the cold damages added by Voice of Reason and Rainbow Facet: Cold Level-up if applied using a skill like Double Swing or Frenzy ?

it is yes but you can try it on sorc with lv 13 orb with synergy , 1 Cold Mastery.

Afaik yes to 1-4 but no to 5. +5 cold damage to skills does not increase the cold damage on your weapon, even if you a skill to hit with those weapons. It's still weapon cold damage, not cold skill damage. I might be wrong though.

And as already pointed out, it won't be high damage either way. Still fun to look at!

While i agree the elemental damages of each individual spells would be very low a very high level Frenzy barb would trigger those repeatedly.

With the added flat cold damages from weapons and the facets, and the physical damages to either Cryptic Sword or Scourge , added on top of the mastery with the massive 350% dmg to demon and 425% dmg to undead, i believe it could easily take down packs for a Gold finder (Voice of Reason also grants 75% extra Gold each).

The barb could also fit M'avina's set (excluding the bow) for the massive cold damages from the gloves.

One more quick question :

If i were to use Berserk with Voice of Reason , will the Berserk damage work with the +%dmg to demon / undead or only use the base damage of the weapon?

What about the synergy bonus to Frenzy? If i have Berserk level 20 for 20% magic damage on Frenzy, will it take into consideration the %dmg to demon / undead or not?

Even at max speed (5 attacks per second), you are talking about 0.75 casts per second, or 1 cast every 1.33 seconds.

A level 13 FO deals 170-175 damage per bolt. A well geared sorc deals like 5 or more times as much and has more ECR penetration.

Regarding M'avinas: 4 piece set bonus is just 131-252 cold damage on gloves, that's negligible. There is much better gear in those 4 slots, most prominently Nightwing's.

Don't get me wrong. It will look cool (pun intended) and be fun to play (at least for a while) but it ain't strong.

Yeah it's more about stacking a lot of damage sources. Physical builds have a hard time getting the damage output to deal with mobs in hell, but this option offers zone damages, it's very cheap and cold damages offer similar effect than Decrepify as in enemies are slowed and this improves survivability. Also allows for the user to flee easily.

I remember playing Wolf Druid with Ribcracker and it took a while until the damages were enough to deal with most mobs. It was completely unviable until i upped the Ribcracker (like fifth day of ladder), and it got going well when i managed to get Chains of Honor (i got really lucky and dropped a Ber).

Rift is also an option but it has no %ed. Crescent Moon too for lightning damages, with twice -35% could skyrocket lightning damage sources, but other than charms i don't really see any.

Maybe some weapons with facets? 3%skill/5%res facets would be inexpensive since i don't need the skill.

I'm trying to see what's the best dual option for Frenzy barb. I remember going Cranebeak 2 ladders ago for the magic find, but the durability was abysmal. The damage output was not bad, just the durability.

I also have the option of two upped perfect Ali Baba socketed with lots of elemental damages... lol just kidding.
