Seems to be huge strain on servers today. Queues to log in, and all chat, in game and lobby disabled. Anyone else seen this?

Flexible but mostly trade is UTC+1 evenings. Note timezone differences: several hours ahead of US / behind Asia. Prompt but don't expect instant. This ain't Traderie.

Opinion: Blizzard's maintenance was finished hours ago, but issues with logging on still exists. sometimes it will load as expected, sometimes it will appear to load and hang for several minutes, and then either load or has to be closed using Windows Task manager. My thoughts are that Blizzard has been reducing the number of servers for each region due to fewer people on average playing the game to repurpose them for other games. Where it becomes an issue is during periods when a larger number of people than expected attempt to logon to play, the game server limits become exceeded and some attempts to launch the game fail. Or it could be typical rate-limiting mechanisms and regional database load controls rather than physical server closures, after all closures and server repurposing saves them money.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 2 weeks agoSeems to be huge strain on servers today. Is the solution that we as a community need to play more D2R so that Blizzard knows there is demand? Logging in now seems marginally easier, although chat is out which makes trading almost impossible...

It's Blizzard message like this that convince me they've reduced the number of servers for each region, because how many people could there be playing at 1 PM, on a Wednesday afternoon?AardvarksAdvance wrote: 2 weeks agoThank you all - good to know.mhlg wrote: 2 weeks agoOpinion: Blizzard's maintenance was finished hours ago, but issues with logging on still exists. sometimes it will load as expected, sometimes it will appear to load and hang for several minutes, and then either load or has to be closed using Windows Task manager. Is it possible botters are retaliating after the ban wave? Wouldn't be the first time

Your 1pm isn't everyone's 1pm.mhlg wrote: 2 weeks ago[..] how many people could there be playing at 1 PM, on a Wednesday afternoon? [..]
Also, for many a country, we're in the midst of summer break.
So...quite a lot.
But yeah, blizz servers/performance have been getting progressively worse. Or at least the D2 side of it, no clue about anything else.
True, my 1 PM isn't the same as other locations such as EU, but neither are the servers. In the U.S Blizzard has servers in L.A Cali, and Chicago il, which is the closest server to my east coast location and is one hour earlier while California is 3 hours earlier. I just ran a tracer route on Battlenet servers. Notice that in hop number 9 it times out, and at number 8 and 10 it indicates Chi or Chicago servers which also timed out. It could be caused by a firewall, but I think traffic congestion is the most likely since in Battlenet lobby there are only 5 games with more than 1 player.

Playing HC SSF right now.
