Description

While there are guides such as “https://maxroll.gg/d2/items/valuable-magic-items” that tell you which Grand Charms are valuable, I wanted to take a look at what the price history on diablo2.io shows.
For this reason I selected all trades from the price history for Skiller Grand Charms as well as a few other Grand Charms. The data is not 100% accurate, as sometimes more than one Grand Charm is traded in a single transaction and not everyone always uses the correct name. However the data should be sufficient for an overview:

Skiller Grand Charms: Table:
Spoiler
Class Prefix Skill Number of trades
Amazon Fletcher's +1 Bow and Crossbow Skills 574
Amazon Acrobatic +1 Passive Skills 141
Amazon Harpoonist's +1 Javelin and Spear Skills 1754
Sorceress Burning +1 Fire Skills 1511
Sorceress Sparking +1 Lightning Skills 2857
Sorceress Chilling +1 Cold Skills 1778
Necromancer Hexing +1 Curses 39
Necromancer Fungal +1 Poison and Bone Spells 1729
Necromancer Graverobber's +1 Summoning Spells 1184
Paladin Lion Branded +1 Combat Skills 2001
Paladin Captain's +1 Offensive Auras 382
Paladin Preserver's +1 Defensive Auras 106
Barbarian Expert's +1 Combat Skills 256
Barbarian Fanatic +1 Combat Masteries 147
Barbarian Sounding +1 Warcries 1011
Druid Trainer's +1 Summoning 506
Druid Spiritual +1 Shapeshifting 696
Druid Natural +1 Elemental 1310
Assassin Entrapping +1 Traps 1315
Assassin Mentalist's +1 Shadow Disciplines 184
Assassin Shogukusha's +1 Martial Arts 734
Total number of Skiller Grand Charms: 20225
Selected non-Skiller Grand Charms: Table:
Spoiler
Prefix Effect Number of trades
Sharp +Attack Rating & Max Damage 1342
Fine +Attack Rating & Max Damage 60
Steel +Attack Rating 295
Serpent's +Mana 64
Lucky +Magic Find 30
Shimmering +All Resistances 579
Amber +Lightning Resistance 41
Ruby +Fire Resistance 33
Sapphire +Cold Resistance 23
Emerald +Poison Resistance 11
Total number of non-Skiller Grand Charms: 2478
Conclusions:

The price history of diablo2.io lists a total of 20215 trades for Skiller Grand Charms so far. Of these, Sorc Lightning Skillers are the ones with the most trades (2857 or 14%). But Sorc Skiller Grand Charms in general are the most popular with 6146 or 30% of the trades in the price history. This should come as no surprise to most. Neither is the fact that Necro Curses are the least traded Skiller in the price history (39 or 0.2%).
It is also interesting to note that there are clear differences in the popularity of skillers for most classes and that one type often has virtually no trades. In addition to Necromancer Curses this includes Paladin Defensive Auras, Amazon Passive & Magic, Barbarian Combat Masteries and Assassin Shadow Disciplines with not even 200 trades in the price history.
The non-Skiller Grand Charms I additionally considered account for a total of 2478 trades in the price history.
Sharp is the clear winner among the non-Skiller Grand Charms with 1342 or 54% of trades. Shimmering (579 or 23%) and Steel (295 or 12%) also have noteworthy numbers, while the rest are pretty much irrelevant.
Final Words:

I hope this is interesting for others as well. If I have forgotten anything or something is incorrect, please let me know.

Awesome analysis Atari, thanks for sharing! So cool to see this :)

Would it be okay if I changed the title of this topic to 'Most-sold types of Grand Charm on diablo2.io'?

I've changed it myself. Your title fits better.

My question is...
Who are the crazy fellas that bought Hexing and Preserver's charms?
🤔

(I could see specific uses for Mentalist's, Fanatic and Acrobatic - both at least can increase your damage or be used as pre-buff for example, but see no reason for the those two... - maybe because of the suffix... 🤔)

why crazy. maybe just bought because they just started playing and didn't know better or for charm collection or to give some low level player some push with low runes.
