Can you please link the trade where you can't exchange trust?

There are 2 likely causes -

Either (1) that the seller typed in the buyer's name, but didn't actually click the name of the buyer from the little popup that shows up. It's like a search function that pop ups matches, but it's not enough to type the full name, you need to actually click the name of the buyer, either via the search popup or via the suggested buyers (the trade completion form shows all users who commented on the trade for easy access to click on the correct buyer).

Or (2) that the buyer didn't make a post in the trade topic. Simply making a post in the trade topic should allow trust exchange.

(1) is an easy fix for a moderator, (2) requires you to take an action. If you link the trade we have a look.

I found the trade in question and the problem was that the seller had typed in the buyer's Battle Tag, rather than their diablo2.io username.

I have corrected this, so you may now exchange trust @Chap @LArpenteur.

In the future, you can just directly message any moderator about it, we can usually solve it quickly if you let us know via a message :)

To give/receive trust, the "buyer" (the user that do not own the trade), must be set correctly (it must be a link to the user profile on the site).
If the name is correctly (the diablo2.io account name, not the battle.net account) but it is not a link, it is probably because the user do something wrong while marking the trade as sold... (probably because the user digited the name, but don't click on the field search result...)

Additionally the owner of the Trade can only give trust if the other user did at least one comment (supposing that you talked only using private message or others programs/site like Battle.net)

Twice for me, after getting the notification and clicking on the one to do so, the notification leads to a nonexistant page error instead of the thread where you can click the trust button.

And everything is exactly same as when it works, up until the page doesn't exist error.

It would be helpful if you contacted a moderator if that happens again, so we can determine the cause.

As a general rule, when you close a trade you should never have to type a username, just pick the name of the other party in the list of people having participated un the trade thread.
