Description

Amulet of the Viper is used in
Recipe: Horadric Staff in order to complete
The Horadric Staff quest.

It is found in
Claw Viper Temple Level 2 after defeating
Fangskin and looting the superchest.

It may be worn as a standalone amulet if desired.

To add an interesting note about
The Tainted Sun Altar in the
Claw Viper Temple, when you click on it there's a chance that it will drop an item along with the
Amulet of the Viper. This is something I just learned today after playing D2 since launch, as the altar "dropped" both the
Amulet of the Viper as well as an ethereal magic
Shamshir. Apparently the altar itself is listed as a super chest.
