All monsters are able to drop shards. These may be used for crafting the new sunder charms or to terrorize a whole act corresponding to the shard you use.

Only Champions, Uniques, Super Uniques, and Heralds can drop worldstone shards.

Maybe. Keeping an eye on it, some more reports by other members of the community on this subject would be highly appreciated

Agreed. I've dropped about 20 shards and none have been from solo White or trash mobs. A couple could have come from minions of an elite.

So I just wanted to make a post for a potential time estimate on farming a new Sunder for what I’m going to refer to as a “casual religious gamer”. I have clocked 3k+ hours on D2R in roughly 3 years and 600 hours on D3 since last May.


Herald spawn is 1% after you get the token from what I read in this thread, and drop rate seems to be a rough estimate at this point but one player who posted found one after about 200 Herald kills.

So 1/100 * ~1/200 = 1/20,000

This is about the equivalent of the “Elitest Few” achievement in Diablo 3 Achievement which I finally got after 3 months of play from May to September, next to no D3 play for the rest of the year, and finally playing again in January for the “Darkening of Tristram” Event.


D3 and D2R Elite kills may be a lot different but I feel I more easily plow through monsters on D3 on the average session.

I will say that I consider myself a “Casual Religious Gamer “ because I have few other time commitments and play Diablo A LOT.

I have decided not to pursue finding a new Sunder, and hopefully in the future it will be more accessible and I hope this interesting viewpoint on how long it could take to kill enough heralds puts things in more perspective for others who consider themselves “Casual Religious “ Diablo players. I feel like the time commitment may be similar to reaching level 99. Which I have only ever done with 1 character.

Uber Ancients anyone?

Dont know if this hits the right category but it seems that they changed something in how Terror Zones are appearing. They used to have boss zones like ALOT on 3weeks ago, and now its total garbarge. A1 and A5 back to back and all that. Its hard to get a Mephiruns anymore, 1-timer doesnt make it a rule it just demonstrates the case.

Hope they fix this back to how it was.
