Hi there,
if I have a magic find weapon in my off hand, like ali baba´s, does it still give me the bonus, even if i switch back to my normal gear?

All Trades are Non-Ladder and Softcore
I think not. It's not a buff that stays when you switch to normal weapon.
You can find that yourself. Open the Character screen and press "A" for stats and see the MF when you are on your main weapon and then press "W" for switch weapons and see what percentage you got.

yeah, thanks. Could have thought about that myself.....

OP
What about my merc? Does his magic find benefit mine?
All Trades are Non-Ladder and Softcore
It works just for him, not for you.
OP
k, thanks mate

Florian is correct.
Just to make it unnecessarily random though:
Even though your merc's MF doesn't work for you, your own MF does work for your merc. So if he gets the killing blow, both his and your MF are summed up. If you get the killing blow, only your own MF counts.

But can my merc find items? I thought only I can find items....

Not in the sense that your merc pick up dropped items from the Ground, but of course a monster can drop items, if it is killed by your merc. As already mentioned, if he has MF on his gear, the applied MF for these merc-drops is your MF added to merc's MF. Simple example: You have 200 MF and your merc 100 MF. You go for Diablo. If you kill him yourself, 200 MF gets applied to Diablo's drops. If you reduce Diablo's life to a minimum and your Merc finishes Diablo, then 200+100=300 MF is applied to Diablo's drops
OP
so the best thing would be to reduce him, and switch to off hand with a mf weapon and mf shield and let my merc finish him
All Trades are Non-Ladder and Softcore
In terms of maximizing MF I would think so
OP
and since we are already discussing mf, how is it with the zoo, when i play with my druid? I guess then it will be my mf

You need to distinguish off-hand (a second weapon when dual-wielding, a shield or a quiver) from switch (a different set of weapons accessed by pressing "W").bansen wrote: 1 week ago if I have a magic find weapon in my off hand, like ali baba´s, does it still give me the bonus, even if i switch back to my normal gear?
The former's MF always works, even if you kill the enemy with another weapon.
The latter's doesn't, as the items on switch are technically unequipped. But you can still benefit from it, if you use the main set to damage the enemy, and switch to the MF set before dealing the killing blow.
OP
I´m sorry, I meant the switch weapon
