Description

Emits an expanding ring of concentrated poison.

Poison Nova
does not overwrite itself, and its duration is always 2 seconds. Therefore you get almost no benefit from casting
Poison Nova
more often than once every 2 seconds (because each subsequent casting doesn't increase the duration on monsters that have already been affected). For this reason FCR is not a top priority for poison necromancers. Even so, it is still a very cool skill.

Poison Nova
works well with the
Lower Resist
curse. You can quickly clear an area of weak monsters by casting
Lower Resist
and then promptly following it up with
Poison Nova
.

Unlike
Nova
, which emits a single, expanding, ring-shaped hitbox,
Poison Nova
emits 64 individual projectiles in lines away from the caster. Furthermore, the skill is subject to a 4 frame Next Hit Delay. This is why the projectiles appear to pass through units despite the skill's lack of any piercing quality. As a consequence of this, only one of the many projectiles created with each casting will poison a target, no matter how many appear to be hitting the unit.

Lore

This spell befouls the atmosphere surrounding the caster.

With an arcane chant, the Necromancer corrupts the very air we breathe and causes it to erupt in all directions.

It is from years of investigation and preparation that the Necromancer can choose a poisonous gas that is toxic to the minions of evil, yet harmless to himself and his companions.

If you are playing in Resurrected mode, this ability's projectiles provide a small radius of light, illuminating the dark slightly as the poison
Bolts
expand outward.

If casting
Poison Nova
in an area with high monster density, you should cast it a few times instead of once every two seconds. This is because the poison
Bolts
disappear when they hit the targets that are closer to the Necromancer, so targets further away from you may not be hit at all.
