Description

Use on the corpse of a slain monster to create a frightening totem that causes nearby monsters to flee.

Player vs Player - This will not work on other players.

Grim Ward
is a more strategic spell, used to permanently block off areas so that monsters will not attack you from that side. They can also be used to channel monsters into specific areas so that the Barbarian can deal with them in an easier fashion. Basically, it has a specific use that is effective and different from any other spell.

Although it is a corpse-utilizing skill,
Grim Ward
has unusual restrictions on which corpses are valid targets. Essentially, a corpse that lacks flesh (e.g. the corpse of a
Skeleton
or
Wraith
) is an invalid target for this skill.

Grim Ward
will not work against Super Unique Monsters and Bosses.

As of Patch 2.4,
Grim Ward
will reduce the physical resistance of affected enemies. Because certain units cannot be affected by the fear effect of
Grim Ward
, the skill cannot lower the physical resistance of those creatures.

Lore

This skill allows the Barbarian to fashion a totem out of the carcass of his slain enemies.

The resulting talisman serves as a grave warning to all of the minions of the Prime Evils.

The mere sight of the Totem causes monsters to flee in terror.

With additional training the warrior can increase the potency of the ward.

Tested it today: Works on ghosts, removes the physical immunity, at least from Minions, or if leveled enough on ghost bosses too.

Grim Ward
overwrites other flee-effects like hit causes monster to flee,
Terror
or
Howl
.

This Skill Is a Great Safety Option for
Double Throw
Barbs in Hardcore Mode.
Worth at least 1 point investment.

Grim Ward
is a "curse like" effect and may overwrite or be overwritten by a similar effect.

According to the Amazon Basin,

When different curse is cast on a cursed target, it will normally overwrite the previous one. Exceptions are as follows:
