In the following I am assuming you are exploding on Death with sigil: Death. If the explosion is from something else that has a higher multiplier, different analysis may apply.

I believe a T5 Herald has a life bonus of 2000% monsters/herald-t1674889.html. Even a low HP monster like a Gloam, at the lowest end of it's range (2000-5000) will still end up with 20x, or 40k hitpoints on P1. Damage from sigil: Death explosion is 70-120% of HP.

Izual has 57k, so I suppose yes, it's theoretically possible on P1 (assuming the multiplier occurs off of a random number within the range and not the max, which I have no idea on).

In practice, I think rare, and not for the ones that it would actually be nice for because they otherwise take a long time to kill. Even at the Gloam range midpoint of 3.5k life * 20, that is 70k for the Herald on P1, which is out of range of 120% of 57k.

Megademons (a high HP monster) average 20k life, so that's 400k hitpoints at 20x, nowhere near possible. A high HP (25k) Megademon on P8 as a T5 Herald would be 25k*20*4.5 = 2.25 million hit points. Izual at P8 would be 211k HP.

Hey,

No, this isn't Death sigil. This is just the game mechanic where upon Izual being killed, all monsters on screen die with him...

Interesting. Worth trying to see.

Per external links looks like if it did work you wouldn't get experience from the deaths. Would still get the sunder drop chance and items (but no bonus from character mf)

Will have to be a careful set up.. don’t much fancy being trapped between Izzy and a T5H for long! :D especially not on P5+

Theoretically? Yes.

Practically? No.

It would take over month just to test this once. Note you are not "killing" anything it is a clear. No XP, No MF, etc. Not sure I would spend the time setting this up for some potions and a funny screenshot. Unless that is what you were going for, then by all means!

Typically you go around Izual clearing and then take him out for the sklll points once because too many HP to bother for this: https://rankedboost.com/diablo-2/bosses/izual/

Why over a month?

I think the set up should be much quicker than that. You just need to locate Izual on the Plains of Despair then clear enough of the area to spawn a T5 Herald, then bring them together.

If I do this on a P5+ game, a T5 Herald should spawn quickly as the T1-4 will very likely spawn/ have been killed in other cleared areas already.

Difficulty as I see will be finding a Plains of Despair in a multi player game that hasn’t yet been cleared, where Izual is still alive, but where Heralds 1-4 have already been spawned elsewhere.

Not sure what the XP is on a T5 Herald but I’m happy to forgo this just to test it. Not sure how to get a timed screen shot of the action though - that might cost me trying to get a decent screen shot whilst staying alive.. especially if T5 spawns with something like Concentration or Fanaticism.. would Izzy get the benefit of those too?? Hmmm…

If this works, it will be a nice satisfying way to put an end to a T5 Herald some of which can be real tough…

Will report back if I succeed. If someone else manages this though - do say!

The Death of a Herald by other explosions works in the Chaos Sanctuary when you kill the last Seal Boss.
If the Herald is already spawned and you kill the last Seal Boss, all monsters - including Herald's pack - are gone instantly.

That’s good confirmation. I’d expect the Izual Death mechanic to work in the same way…

I assume it should be the same with Radament. When you kill him after a Herald spawned the Herald is damaged by Radament's Holy Bolt on Death
