Description
I folded that dude twice in literal seconds with chains last night. It used to take me a few minutes but now he gets the Smoke.
Also, as I mentioned in another thread, T5 heralds are a non issue as well, however, I've yet to face a psycho doll one yet and that terrifies me a little. I'm sure one of those can one shot you at 5k life

Can be used to make Runewords:

Yes, now that you can lay miasma coulds all over the Ground before a spawn (obv not dclone), heralds are not at all difficult. Still a few that are dangerous, so I atill lay the Ground then Teleport back a few steps, but I always place lethargy and try to time an Abyss as well.
Re: Dclone, I had a problem this week with chains... I was pulling aggro off of my demon and getting hosed. Not a huge problem b/c he went down quick, but more suprising than anything.

I was using that same technique in a TZ throne room last night as well. Mobs were evaporating upon spawning. Even Lister was like "wtf man"FerociousTerrier wrote: 5 hours agoYes, now that you can lay miasma coulds all over the Ground before a spawn (obv not dclone), heralds are not at all difficult. I have switched to miasma/ Abyss as it is massively OP.
What demon should I get? At the moment I am running with none, and that's working fine except my merc gets popped by T5s.

Thinking about running chains for ladder. Which player count was this on? (Regarding t5 heralds)Rhaegar86 wrote: 5 hours agoI folded that dude twice in literal seconds with chains last night. It used to take me a few minutes but now he gets the Smoke.

Yes, after patch 3.3, the demons are not the same aggro magnets as they used to be.

My gearing is a little weird because single player gave me a lot of basic gear but not a lot of the new gear after warlock. So I have a pretty good setup (Obsession, haven't found the Void base, meph book, Sling, soj, hellwardens with solid colossus ). I have amazing anni and torch. But my charms suck because I've only found one single Chaos skill charm so far. I was using a pretty lame -5 Black Cleft charm. Merc is geared as though I'm an ES Nova sorc.
Anyway, p7 t5 heralds were not a big deal except the merc will go get popped. He feels OP already, despite having like... lemme think... 6-9 +skills left on the table for miasma/ Abyss, and another 5% on the cleft charm.
Great, that sound like what I will play then. I wanted to be able to play p8 and not have to skip heralds.departure wrote: 3 hours agop7offload wrote: 3 hours agoThinking about running chains for ladder. Which player count was this on? (Regarding t5 heralds)

They kill my merc too so that's par for the course for me.
I wont get all that good stuff on ladder but I'll have something to work toward. And I can top off his gear when season ends from my main.
Cheers
I think it's the most powerful build. But there is an essential element that is kinda hard to get, which is the Black Cleft charm. If you don't get one of those, I don't think you can make it past the 2nd wave or handle the unravelers in the tombs. Because my understanding is that Infinity doesn't break magic immunity and so there is no other way besides the cleft. I suppose buying one from a converted character from pre-ROTW also works (like if someone creates a pre-ROTW ladder char and farms them and converts a mule over to ROTW ladder, I don't know if that's allowed).offload wrote: 3 hours agoGreat, that sound like what I will play then. Otherwise you just have to find a cleft charm, and that's going to be harder this season than last because Andy's drops have been nerfed to like 30% of their old values, and it's a rare sunder for heralds. So they're going to be much less plentiful this ladder.
Just a heads up.
A strong demon takes care of the magic immunes, and as long as you start the game with a Bone Break in your inventory, they handle magic + physical immunes, too. I just spam Abyss on them for the interruption while the demon works them down.departure wrote: 3 hours agoI think it's the most powerful build. I think Lister would hold Aggro because of his Smite, but I haven't tested it yet. Urdars are always a good choice. Are you investing in Bind Demon or going minimal demon? A Stone Skin + Cursed + Magic resistant or Cold enchanted Lancer is a very strong and high DPS demon. Can also get fire enchanted instead of cold for fire immunity, but you could also get the fire immunity from Flickering Flame.
I figured I'd max out the Abyss tree minus entropy. If I go siphon (which I'd prefer not to, could be a pre-buff or a knife, but whatever), then after you've done Consume and defiler and 10 for DM for 3 summons, you have 29 points remaining. A 1 skill BD gives you 24 leftover points. So I don't see what else to use the 23 points on other than maxing BD and 4 to DM. I suppose they could be used to max out siphon or something.FerociousTerrier wrote: 2 hours agoI think Lister would hold Aggro because of his Smite, but I haven't tested it yet. I don't mind searching for a lancer, but I assume she'll get killed. Even if I find her p7 and give her a prebuff. Will she survive t5s? I don't want to spend 3 hours looking for the perfect unique lancer only to get her wiped out on a Herald.
It's also a little scary to spend lots of time looking for a demon when you're actively using and re-using Consume.
I experimented with dumping my 7 free points into Hex Siphon on my apoc build. It exceeded my expectations. It is very, very nice if you have nothing else better to put them into. Especially if you have lot of +skills. My warlock has about +40 to mana and life after killdeparture wrote: 2 hours agoI figured I'd max out the Abyss tree minus entropy. I am so careful with Consume. It is a bit nerve racking. I have a Stone Skin + Cold Enchanted lancer (third was Aura enchanted, which is a bit of a waste, but at least it was Fanaticism). She has so far been very strong against all T5s I've been up against. I do use strategic positioning for Moon Lords, Urdar and other extremely strong hitting monster (particularly Urdar that Stun), mostly by using choke points. What also helps is that I equip my Act 1 merc with Delirium, which consistently applies crowd control. If my demon was Cursed, I wouldn't do that so as not to overwrite Amp damage, but honestly, your chains is going to be doing so much damage you probably won't even miss Amp Damage. Stone Skin is Key, imo.departure wrote: 2 hours agoI figured I'd max out the Abyss tree minus entropy. We just can't have nice things, huh, BlizzardBisu wrote: 3 hours agoYes, after patch 3.3, the demons are not the same aggro magnets as they used to be.
To proc curse you need lightning enchanted or Holy Freeze basically. I'm not super familiar but I assume this means that a unique is required. Is Stone skin still available with that kind of setup? We need a web-based tool for this.FerociousTerrier wrote: 1 hour agoI am so careful with Consume. It is a bit nerve racking. Great idea! I've been working off of an excel spreadsheet for different combos of affixes.departure wrote: 1 hour agoTo proc curse you need lightning enchanted or Holy Freeze basically. Best "cursing" affixes would be:
Getting super lucky to find a Cursed + Stone Skin + Lightning enchanted
+ getting super luck and rolling Holy Freeze aura
It's seriously like hunting a shiny pokemon.
OP
I used to run a cursed Hephasto with Holy Freeze but now I'm running one of those rainbow devils from Uber Tristram. They are all-elemental and magic immune so they make for a pretty effective tank especially now that chains is working 95% correctly. I got tired of my designer poke(de)mon getting one-shotted by stupid crap. At least if you have a spare set of keys available you can go grab one along with a torch to sell.
Running with a super-niche demon is almost as nerve racking as playing HC lol
That is it! I especially hate running into a Herald someone has abandoned. Sometimes I see the auras and am like "sweet, another elite pack", and then my health drops by half and I'm like "Nope! That's Harold!" I was given a nice surprise in Frozen River with a Gloam Herald that was abandoned near the entrance. Thankfully Lancers are lightning immune (although I am not).
OP
Man those gloams are no joke and no matter what you do, they always get you caught in a cross-fire. Gloams and psycho dolls. No thank youFerociousTerrier wrote: 25 minutes agoThat is it!
