Ethereals are generally recognised as providing more damage than regular counterparts, and for that ghostly visual.
Ethereal is good for player use assuming you have a repair-replenish mod or a skill (eg Barb throw replenish) that does it.
It’s even a strong choice where it has no way to repair or replenish, but where the item isn’t expected to lose durability during use eg wands and staves for casting purposes.
We know that Mercs are suited to ethereal items as they don't degrade items through use or combat.
My question is this. What have been your worst ethereal drop fails?
Pics optional but welcome. Do share your stories; oh what ethereal horrors have your builds seen in their D2R lives?
