Just occurred to me. PvP allows players to use summons. Warlocks have Bind Demon, so surely in PvP, you can have demons face off against each other?
So are PvP warlocks able to have Sarina Battlemaid V Shenk the Over-see-errrr in the blue corner??
Does anyone host underground demon fights just to see which demons would win out over another?
Just wondered!
If this works, could we get 48 warlock players together with their pet demons, and have play offs, knock outs and finals, with each player bringing a different demon? Expect Haphaestos v Lister the Tormentor in the quarter finals? We stream the fight live to raise money for the site? Winner gets a handful of donated Jahs?

I think a possible issye is that minions and mercenaries are programed to attack primary threats. Notice that when you farm the Arcane for H keys, as soon as you reach The Summoner your Demon will go directly to him. So if you pit fight Demons, instead of demon on demon you will probably be fighting your opponents demon and he yours. Of course I could be wrong and there is a way to make it work but I think that's how it's likely to play out.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 2 days agoJust occurred to me. PvP allows players to use summons. OP
Ah pitfall…. Does the Death Mark ability help with this at all? I suppose first question is whether in PvP the demons attack each other at all. Second question is whether you can direct them to do so using the lock skill Death Mark?mhlg wrote: 2 days agoI think a possible issye is that minions and mercenaries are programed to attack primary threats. You never know what really works until you've tried it. Why not grab a buddy, make a private game, and give it a try, and see what happens, and please be sure to get a video of it. Merc fights are possible so I guess demon fights are, too.
Playing HC SSF right now.
Hell completed: Sorc, Druid, Paladin, Ama, Assa, Necro, Barb
Iron Man (Paladin): Nightmare A1

i would send in a fully synergized lvl 54 valk. surely she won't harm anybody but interesting if the demon can kill her (well if he one-shots tz andy..)
Demon fights should be simpler to pull off than merc fights as you can approach an enclosed area from opposite sites and then just Death Mark both of them across the wall so they have nothing to attack but each other.
Just find a place with see-through gates/walls (jail, palace, ..) so you can still see what's going on.

So that's what those big cages in jail are for. OP
Imagine a new way to play D2R. Spectator demon fights. 21.00 EST, Rakanishu, the youngest ever demon pit fighter, the underdog will be taking on Frozenstein, defending champion… 8 ringside seats available, streamers pay per view also available on demand.vued wrote: 12 hours agoSo that's what those big cages in jail are for. Frozenstein is not demon?
Yes, look at his database entry. He is an "animal", a yeti, obviously.
OP
Good points made by you and Ganseng. BUT in my defence, the assignment of monster and animal is quite arbitrary in D2R. Frozenstein has a name derivative of Mary Shelley’s works, and is based on a mythical monster yet is classed as an animal. Goatmen on the other hand, despite resembling goats, are not animal class but demon class?mikelessar wrote: 10 hours agoYes, look at his database entry. He is an "animal", a yeti, obviously.
Anyone care to weigh in?

Will you be announcing what my Blunderbore is weighing in at? He's a bit sensitive on the issue.
He will go against a Swarm, of course!FerociousTerrier wrote: 3 hours agoWill you be announcing what my Blunderbore is weighing in at? He's a bit sensitive on the issue.
Yes, it sometimes makes no sense.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 3 hours ago

Goatmen are inded demons (although the Lore says "These mutations of Evil are half man, half goat ").
Rakanishu and his Fallen, are demons too.
Spike Fiends are animals, despite them being called "fiends". And the Vulture Demon is an animal...which is called "demon".
Fetishs are demons, although they look quite human.
A Sand Raider is an animal, although I have no idea what animal he is based on. Same with the Siege Beast.
Let's not forget Baal's Minion which looks just like a demon but are classified as animals and can't be bound (likewise with Death Mauler, the guys that shoot underground spikes).mikelessar wrote: 2 hours agoYes, it sometimes makes no sense.AardvarksAdvance wrote: 3 hours ago

It gets worse. The ancients are all animals. The warlock’s summon demon skill tree has 3 summonables, but 1 of these is not actually classed as a demon; Goat man we just discussed is a demon as is putrid de filer but Summon Tainted in fact summons an animal. Even those monsters with demon in the name Baboon Demon, Vulture Demon, and Frog Demon might in fact be an animal. And those ultra powerful Moon Lords and variants are also in fact animals.
Thankfully, The Cow King is an animal so there’s that classification that restores my Faith that it’s not all completely random

Tainted and all its subtypes are demons, the database page here at diablo2.io is wrong about them being animals. I never noticed that until now. Someone should probably report that
(you can check any other wiki and it will say they are demons, and also; you can just double check in-game that it says demon under their names)

It’s even weirder, actually - some sub-species of these enemies are demons, most are animals. Specifically it’s the ones called Hell Spawn, Greater Hell Spawn, Frenzied Hell Spawn and Insane Hell Spawn (the last two are of the self-exploding kind).FerociousTerrier wrote: 2 hours agoLet's not forget Baal's Minion which looks just like a demon but are classified as animals
These also have varying types, depending on sub-species; Carrion Birds and Winged Nightmares are animals, Undead Scavengers are Undead… and Hell Buzzards are Demons.
I can’t remember off the top of my head if there are any other monster types that have varying classification depending on sub-species
